Fozzie Made It!

This is sort of a brag and then a not so much brag. I'm so proud of Fozzie! He has made it the entire week in his crate for 8 1/2 hours without going potty in there.

My office will be moving on Sept 20 and I won't be able to go home as easily as I have for the past 5 months. I decided to start making the transition now. I'm sad throughout the day as going home has been a very nice break from this corporate world. Instead I've been going out shopping at lunch all week.

Well, for the past two evenings Foz has been drinking a lot of water for whatever reason. We have been upstairs and Foz has run downstairs quickly and then comes back up. We didn't run down after him as he usually goes to get a different toy and brings it to the living room.

When we go down later on, we found that he peed and not a little pee. HUGE PEES! It's like he started peeing from the time he hit the lower level and continued all the way to the patio door on the area rugs that go through to the floor.

Foz has been WONDERFUL about adamently scratching at our patio doors to let us know he needs to go potty. He did this no matter where in the house WE were situated.

Steve was really pissed last night and we ALL just left the room as he didn't want to hear my rationalizing. He was so upset because just the previous night he had washed all the same area rugs and completely washed the floor. He didn't want to wash it again. I know Foz didn't mean to go potty on the floor. His trail led to the patio door so he knew he had to go. I just wonder why he didn't paw at the door like he usually does.

We are going to have to be a little bit more diligent in letting him go out right after play time. We've been a little too trusting that he'd always tell us. My little guy...

I completely know what you mean. About 2 weeks ago I started trusting that Barkley would scratch at the door like he usually does - and that's when he had an accident. Since then we've watched him more closely and he hasn't had an accident since. I understand the frustration, but it's encouraging to see that he knew where he should have been...

I go home from work at lunchtime to take Barkley out of his crate for potty break, feed him and have some playtime. He's 13 weeks now and can easily make it for 5 hours in the crate during the daytime (with an empty, quiet house he just sleeps) and 8 hours at nighttime.

Foz is okay for 8 1/2 hours during the daytime - which is awesome!!!!

How old is Foz? Just wondering when I will be able to start trying to wean Barkley off of his lunch breaks.

Thanks,
Foz is 7 months old and was doing 2 stints of 4 hours in the crate.

Foz joined Annie (our 9 yr old sheepie) in the hall bathroom months ago for nighttime. He isn't crated in there and doesn't rise until she does which is usually about 8 hours. :D
Great! Thanks! Hopefully Barkley will be able to make it through the workday by 7 months too.
Immediately outside time after play is a good idea and probably will be almost up to a year. When Clyde was around 10 months old, we were playing in the bedroom for awhile. He knew he had to go outside as soon as we were done but he made it to the top of the stairs to go down and realized he couldn't make it. He let loose a huge Austin Powers pee that couldn't be interrupted. You could almost hear "Ahhhhh," as he did it. It was really odd because we hadn't had any accidents for quite some time. When Bear turned around 10 months, he and Clyde were playing in the bedroom pretty rough for awhile. Bear turned to run downstairs, in the same spot that Clyde had a year before, and let loose with his own unstoppable Austin Powers pee. Talk about following in his big brother's footsteps!
Way to go Foz! :high5:
