I tried it and I hate it. It is annoying to put on because it has two adjustable buckles that must be fitted each time. If you'd like to have it, let me know. I'd sell it for $20 (half price!) plus shipping. Otherwise, I suppose I will sell it on ebay. . .

I've never heard of it.
What does it do? |
Hey Elissa,
The link to this collar is below. I came close to buying one for my blind sheepie that demands to be the leader. I'm going to do some serious everyday walking using a Gentle Leader instead and only in the front yard 'til she learns to walk nice. She's a stubborn, bossy little stinker... guess maybe we went overboard in the confidence building department. http://cesarmillan.securesites.net/icollar.php |

What does it do? The collar works like a kind of girdle so that you can keep the adjustable slip collar portion up by the base of the skull, where Cesar is always recommending people place it. Ordinary humans have a hard time keeping the collar up there, so he has designed a contraption that automtically does it. There is a regular collar around the neck and stiff side "bones" that attach to a second collar around the base of the skull. Inside that collar is a slip collar used for corrections. The thing that is annoying is that the two neck collars are on buckles that need to be fitted every time you put the collar on -- compared to a regular adjustable collar where you determine the size and then you can just snap the collar together. |
Valerie - Sure, I'll buy it off of you! What size is it?
I could understand it being annoying to constantly adjust it, but anything would be better then the pronged chocker collar I'm using. We tried the gentle leader, but Hendrix's hair would get ripped out. Now when he sees the pronged chocker collar he runs and puts his head under the table. |
size medium. pm your address and i'll let you know how much it is with shipping. do you use paypal? otherwise I will send you my address and you can mail a check. |
I'll measure Hendrix tonight and see if the medium will fit. THANKS! |
You can also achieve the same result using a slip lead and/or choke collar / Martingale collar.
The trick is to keep the lead on the highest place on the neck, directly behind the ears. Dogs have strong necks and feel the natural urge to pull. If you have the lead tension up high, you have complete control of the head. If you control the head - you control the dog. Doesn't hurt the dog whatsover and you will find that they will not pull in this position. I learned this in dog show handling classes so now you'll know the secret to why the dogs behave so well in the ring... |
Verveup, my son wants to know what kind of pup Haggis is! He thinks he is so cute....
Also, we tried a choke collar on Allie in puppy school, it seemed to get caught up in her hair and would not relax? Are you saying we just need to put it up farther on her neck? She is 6mths now and loves her walks! But the minute she sees a child/adult/or another dog, look out! Her 35pds is pulling my shoulder out of socket already! Hubby is saying to get the prong collar....But I would try the choke again if it would work! |
Haggis is a Norfolk Terrier. He's very sweet but he's still not housebroken at 7.5 months . I never thought I would ever have a problem housebreaking but these little guys are tough.
Regarding the leads, I know there are some members on the board that use the prong collar but it will be a problem if your dog is in coat. This is a pic of the dog show choke collars http://www.cherrybrook.com/store/Produc ... ctID=54246 and if you get one of the snake ones, the fur does not get stuck. Regarding keeping the collar on higher on the neck, yes it does work but it takes some finesse as if there is any slack it wil fall back down the neck. The Martingdale might work better to stay up in place and maybe Maxmm can chime in because she uses one with Toby. |
We use a martingale collar with most of our dogs. OES, rat terrier and basset hound in particular. They work great! They give more control than a buckle collar, but don't tangle in the coat like a training/choke collar. They also have the bonus of being a collar the dog can wear all the time, unlike a choke or prong collar. |
I like the martingale. It does seem to stay in place better than a standard choke and doesn't grab hair. I only use it at shows, otherwise he doesn't wear a collar.
I also have a larger, flat collar that is a martingale which I use in obedience and regular walking. I had one made that keeps the martingale at a regular tension like a standard flat collar but you can still tighten it if you need to. Carl wears a martingale when we go out because he is absolutely ADD and needs a stronger attention getter. They are great because you don't have to tug or snap the collar like a choke either you or the dog puts gentle tension on it and it gets snugger. It's also a wider collar than a standard choke so it's not one thin area of pressure. |
It's only $40 on his web site. What's the problem? |
Hi all
Im new here but like the atmospheere I too was watching The dog whisperer religiously and wish i could get control of my dog on walks like ceasar did. but none of my collars would stay behind the ears I search but couldn't find the magic collar xcept for "Illusion" well then i researched with illusion added to keywords and didnt like all the complaints about it having too many buckle and what not well i got sewing with some junk i got from garage sales purses, duffle bag, and anything i could find that had parts i needed buckle loops straps etc.. now i got the magic collar and like to get feedback and hopefully marketing ideas/support this thing does it all stylish collar, choke, transform to halti, easy to put on takeoff, adjustable and probly lots cheaper than the $40 one the super star dog guru sell his for so i need a handful of knowledgable, well known, and trusted folks to try my collar out |
