How old is he? In your picture it looks like he is still a puppy. My Scruffy did this a lot when she was a puppy, but it stopped once she got a bit older. Another technique you might try is ignoring him for the first couple of minutes until he calms down, then say hi to him and pet him. That means turn your back when he jumps and don't react when he nips, just ignore him until he settles.
Good luck!

I had the same problems with Piper, when she nipped me I yelped so she knew she was hurting me and she would instantly stop and start licking me as if to say sorry. Of course I felt completely silly, especially when I yelped if I had friends over but its worth the embarrassment! This was a technique I learnt at puppy school so its tried and tested. I also leant turning my back and ignoring her whenever she jumped up and she no longer does that, she's only 14 weeks so i'm very lucky to have a quick learner.
I have a nine month old OES and had the same problem. I contstantly kept bruises on my arms and legs from him "nipping" me. I didn't mind the bruises so much, but the nipping was very painful. He was also tearing my clothes.

I took him to obedience classes, and during the class he was a perfect angel. But, once back home, the nipping began again. The trainer suggested that we get another dog. I thought to myself that I would only be doubling my problems. But, it just so happened that we had the opportunity to adopt a large breed 3 1/2 month old puppy who wasn't being cared for, so we did.

It's amazing! The OES has completely stopped nipping! He and the pup "rumble and tumble" and have a great time, too. I never would have beieved it if I hadn't seen it myself.
I work at a humane society and they recommend back to the dog and ignoring them. I find they still jump and it's annoying.

My Mom always recommended we (her 4 kids, even when I was little) put our knee up when our or other dogs would jump. She has a 80 lb. OES and a 135 lb. rottweiler and she's 70 yrs. old now so she needs them to behave. A few times of the knee in the chest (not forceful or to hurt them, but holding it up as an obstacle - an uncomfortable one) and they don't jump at all on anyone. You can still face them and not be pummeled.

Turning the back can work too I'm sure, but as soon as you turn around again, then what?
ALSO - my puppy is a nipping master right now - I ALWAYS replace my leg/pants with a toy immediately. He's instantly is distracted. And tons of exercise has kept him mellow so far.
