We can't watch Animal Planet anymore. If a dog barks or an animal makes a strange noise the following things happen...
1. Izzie perks up 2. If there is more than one or two barks she jumps up 3. Runs to the tv 4. barks and whines and jumps up towards the tv 5. Melissa and I have muted or shut off the tv by this point My mom keeps asking us if we have watched that 8 Below movie yet...I can't get her to understand that it is a physical impossibility as long as Izzie is in the house. |
Fozzie does the same thing He also likes to watch other shows/movies especially ones with singing and musical instruments. He must think our big screen tv is another window outside. I don't recall what it was for, but the other day he was on the floor watching a commercial. All of a sudden I see this person shoot up from the bottom to the top of the screen and then off it. I thought Foz was going to do a backwards somersault |
o i watched 8 below with olive and man it was so sad... i cried so hard and olive kept trying to comfort me and lick my tears. she was so sweet but really what a sad movie that was . she did try to run and bark witht he dogs on the movie though and that made me laugh. |
So funny that you mention "Eight Below." We watched it a few weeks ago (if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it - a Disney-esque real-life adventure, but obviously this one is based on an incredible true story and does have some pretty rough parts to watch in it. So be aware that you will definately shed a few tears if you are a dog lover).
Guinevere sat in her chair when it first started, but as the movie progressed, she became more and more concerned about the fate of the dogs on-screen. She got up and paced around the room, looking up at the screen from time to time, then came to lay beside me on the couch. She watched intently, but periodically would get up to walk up to the screen, then come back to sit next to me so I could pet her and calm her down and tell her that the dogs were going to be ok, that they were "actors" and were doing a good job in the film. It was amazing, since we watch a lot of films and she basically could care less about what is on TV. So be aware that this one is definately rated "PG-S" (Some scenes may be too intense for viewing with your sheepie!). Guinevere's Dad, Kevin Z. ("But Dad, it seemed pretty real to me!") |
THAT IS SO SWEET. I AM GLAD OLIVE WAS THERE FOR ME TO CRY ON. IT WAS A GOOD MOVIE BUT WOW! AND I AGREE THERE SHOULD BE A GATING FOR HOW YOU DOG WILL REACT AS WELL. WE WATCHED THE SHAGGY DOG AND I SWEAR SHE WAS WATCHING RIGHT ALONG WITH ME. VERY STRANGE. |
I can't watch Animal Planet when the wigglebums are in the room either. It's just too upsetting for them. I have to wait until they're asleep to catch up on The Dog Whisperer episodes that I TiVoed.
I have mixed emotions about watching Eight Below. Even though I know it turns out okay, I think the bad parts will still be too tough to watch. I'm such a softie. |
I can't watch anything with dogs or horses or kids playing or anyone arguing. Boo can tell if there is a dog on screen even if he is in another room.
So much for Frasier, The Dog Whisperer, Eight Below, Turner & Hooch . . . . |
