Thank You |

I am sorry you are having all this worry, you really do need to see a vet if the cough has been going on for that long, could be infection there or something else that needs to be checked out by a vet. Better safe then sorry. The lump could be an abcess from infection so that needs assessing too.
Hope all goes well |
I would definitely go to the vet and get it checked out.
As far as the lump goes, it may be a fat cyst which is common in oes, but not usually that young. |
As others suggested, I would suggest a trip to the vets office....
Good luck... hope everything is okay. |
Thank you for your responses. I will see the vet, mostly for the nodule. The little hack has only happened about 5 or 6 time's in 3.5 week's, so I am hoping it is not serious. It almost as if she is going to throw up, it last for about 30 seconds, than it is gone and she does not throw up. She eats grass, until I catch her and stop it. Maybe thats what it is from.
Thanks |
Sounds like it could be Kennel Cough, and the lump is an enlarged gland. You will need to get meds from the vet, and it usually takes 2 weeks to go away.
Do you have her on Heartworm meds? Heartworms can also cause a dog to cough. |
Argos has had a cough/choke thing going on since I brought him home a year ago as a pup. As a puppy, I brought him to the vet, scared it was kennel cough (although he had not been near a kennel) the vet said maybe post nasal drip becasue he smells lots of new things all the time. the cough continued along with a little reflux of the food or water he would drink. I continued with the vet, who next thought it may be a symptom of hookworm, which we have had a terrible time trying to get rid of. Finally, it was suggested he go to a specialist. Argos had an ultra sound almost three weeks ago and he is been on ammoxicilian since. It was found that he has scar tissue on his heart, and increased sound in his lungs. The specialist is treating him for Bronchitis, which he may have had for a long time. He has been on meds for a few weeks and the cough isn't really clearing up. The specialist said if it doesn't clear up , Argos will next be treated for asthma, and if that is ruled out, it seems it may be chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I am hoping it is bronchitis, although it doesn't look good for that. At any rate, please bring your sheepie to the vet, a specialist will cost you, but at least you will know what is wrong. The ultra sound cost $300, and I have to do a follow up one next month. If the lung sound doesn't clear up, Argos will need a bronchosopy, which will be much closer to $700. Not a cheap answer, but at least I will know what is wrong with my boy, and how I can help him feel beter. I wish you luck! |
Norman once had a hacking cough along with a lump on his neck. For the life of me, I can't remember what they said it was but it was also something that humans get. I know, not much help! The solution was a low dose antibiotic and to remove his collar at all times when not in use because it was irritating his throat.
Sorry about the lack of info. I'm sure it will wake me out of a dead sleep at 3 am!! Maybe try to remove anything from around his neck when not in use until you can get into your vet. You can also rub his neck and see if that makes the cough reproduceable in the meantime. That info may prove helpful in getting an earlier appointment. |
Thank you for all of your advice. I took Skye to the vet, he tested her for kennel cough and she does not have it. She just has allergies, since it has cooled down outside she has not coughed. He recommended Benadril (? spelling) I did not want to medicate her like that, 3 human antihystamines a day???, no I don't think so. The small lump under her chin is just a normal cist. He said that it will probably just pop and ooze a toothpaste like substance. I am keeping an eye on it. She is her normal crazy little self.
