Yikes! Are they really as bad as I've heard? |
|
I know a couple of people with Kia's... I have heard they are great the first 3 years and then all downhill from there, not built to last. |
I wanna know all about it too, I was very interested in getting the Kia Rio 5, and the next one up from that. Both the hatchback model. The Rio 5 didn't have enough room for Remy to fit. But I think the other one did.
I saw the Ford at the race, and that is really sweet, but hubby doesn't want a Ford. I also like Pontiac Vibe, similar look and it has different features, the higher you go. |
Along with Mazda, I worked for Kia (owned by same man, so we went back and forth between where we worked). are they as bad? IMHO, they're improving, but they're not first on my list of companies to buy from. I think they're catching up to the other companies, but still have a ways to go. SO...... I would trust toyota ten times over before I bought a Kia.
Other companies don't have to offer the 10 Year/100000 Mile Warranty Program because they've already won their customers over into believing their car will last for 10 yrs/100000 miles. Kia essentially has to ...if it wants to win customers back and give us peace of mind that they're not buying a piece of crap. On the flip side, I think it's a good idea because they are coming around 'as a whole.' The limited warranties included in the coverage does offer some reassurance and protection if you break down somewhere. Not to mention that Kia's are affordable. |
Kia's lose book value incredibly fast. The credit union here will not even finance a Kia. |

Neither will any of the banks around here... when I was car shopping I briefly considered a kia, but since no one would finance one, and I didn't want to go through the dealership, I opted for my Dodge Caravan instead, which I love. |
most cars built solely for economy are made cheap to make prices lower, the bottom of every car line is kinda poop. |
Wow that is interesting about the banks, and the depreciation. I am a huge fan of value and resale. |
NOT A KIA!!!! Talk him into anything else but stay clear of a KIA |
My mom has the Vibe and it is pretty nice. It's small enough to whip in and out of parking spaces but big enough to haul all of my dog show stuff and 1 dog. It also moves like a dream. Doubling the speed limit on the highway didn't seem to be a problem for it!
The biggest problem I found was that it doesn't have arm rests on the driver's seat. They offer some nice packages and toys with it too. She hasn't had it very long to say what happens to it in the long run though. |

Yup, Pontiac Vice. Someone else had mentioned it earlier as an alternative. |
I prefer the Miami Vice. |

If you're looking for an economical car with space to boot and you are considering the Vive and the Matrix, maybe you should look at the Honda FIT. Altough it's small it has good space. Danita, Marielena with her chair & the sheepies in the trunk fit OK. And it's fun to drive too. |
I like all my vices!!!! |
How did it go? |

My vices? They're going great, thanks! |
If you don't tell me all about your vices, I'll have to put the squeeze on you for the info.
Aha! New name! The Pontiac Squeeze! |
Put the squeeze on about my vices and I will have to divulge all of the pertinent info about "the incident"....... |
what about the Scion? nevermind.. they dont sell them in Canada right?
Dont get a Kia - you'll end up spending more to fix.. and I heard it's not good on Ice - no control. I like the Toyota Yaris, did you check that? Jeff has an Echo - which is similiar (Yaris replaced Echo) .. and it's nicccee, ecomonical and reliable. good luck car shopping - it's fun!!! |

We didn't bother. I told him what the "reviews" were and he knows that I HATE wasting time shopping for ANYTHING, much less a car. Tonite we went out and looked at several of the vehicles mentioned. We test drove a Pontiac Vibe. This is the exact same vehicle as the Toyota Matrix, but they had a saleman available at the Pontiac dealer. Can you believe that we went into the Toyota showroom and the receptionist took our name and gave us a number? We were the 4th people in line and they would page us when a saleman was available? I don't think so!!! We left and went to the Pontiac dealer down the road. The Vibe was a ncie drive, very roomy and comfy. a bit lagging on the uptake, but not a bad ride. 0% financing, too. Now Don is having second thoughts about buying a new car Honestly, I think he was just trying to see if he could get me out to a car lot!!! |
