Rosie was a tough gal who came to us from the Southern suburbs of Chicago. It didn’t take her long to adapt to life in the city as a Northsider however we always suspected she was a White Sox fan and not a Cubbies fan like the rest of us. About 8 months ago, Rosie was diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The meds helped contain the situation and keep her comfortable for a good six months however near the end the cancer took a nasty turn for the worse and she started to build up fluid in her hind legs (a side effect from the cancer) which made it difficult for her to walk without falling over. A very sad sight since we knew she would never be the same happy friend we’ve always known and loved. Even up until the end, she was so good, heck, she didn't even fight or chew off the adult depend diapers we had to keep on her in the house because the cancer in her bladder forced her to squat and pee constantly. Rosie lived a long and healthy 14 1/2 great years and will never be forgotten. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to post this memorial to her, this web site has been a great help to us in our time of sadness. To Rosie, truly one of the greatest! |

I am so sorry for your loss of your wonderful Rosie. 14 1/2 years is a LONG life for a sheepie! I'm sure she never gave up her spirit for living because she was so happy with you and your family. Bless you for rescuing this special girl. |
Sorry to hear about your Rosie. It sounds like she was a well loved pert of your family and will be missed. How hard to make the decision, but they usually give some sign it's time. The avatar picture is great. |
Thanks to everyone for saying such kind words, it’s nice to know there are other people who can relate to the magnitude of our loss. It’s even nicer to know that there are so many people who understand and appreciate the uniqueness of the OES personality. Rosie actually passed last month and its finally time that we can put aside the sadness of her not being with us and smile by having all the great memories of her.
We have actually been in contact with Grace Fujikawa and Jeri Hoppe here in the Chicagoland area and hope to rescue another Sheepie in the very near future. I first contacted Grace seven years ago and found Rosie so I was not surprised to find out that she is still dedicated to the cause. We will certainly keep everyone updated. |
Im sorry about your loss. My thoughts are with you!
To a wonderful, beautiful girl named Rosie! |

Hi,
I felt such sadness when reading about Rosie and her loss must have been so devestating to all that loved her. Yet, I also gather from your post that love and happiness she experienced in your home all those years. She was a lucky girl to have lived with such a wonderful family. My condolences to you and hugs to you all. Marianne and the boys |
