Stay out of the sun?? |
Don't have an answer but wanted to say that this is an excellent question and will be watching for the gurus to offer suggestions. I take Saffy to the dog beach several times a week for an hour or so in the morning and am concerned about that pink area above the nose where the hair splits. I spray sunblock on my hand and then attempt to smear it on her but she doesn't like that at all. |
Instead of Sunblock lotion, smear White Zinc Cream on the pink area above her nose to protect from the sun, also if she swims too it stays on
Around the eye's well that is a tricky one, get her a doggie sun visor hat as you can't go putting anything near the eye, so a visor should protect the pink area around the eye if she is not fully pigmented there. |
There's also that spray on sunscreen now, which is less greasy and goes on evenly. I haven't tried it onm a dog but it may also be worth looking into. |
I use the sun blocked intended for babies.... I think it's called "Babies faces and other places" by coppertone. Within a couple weeks it grows long enough to protect the skin but in the mean time the skin does need protection.
We just returned from vacation, I took my Maltese but not my sheepie. When the Malt gets wet his very pink skin is reveals so as soon as we got out of the water I would rub him down with sunblock. It ment giving him a bath everynight but it prevented sunburn. |
