Bella starting to chew at 1 year of age!

One of my girls has started to chew. I believe it is my 1 year old Bella.
I haven't caught her in the act but she acts very guilty. She has never chewed anything until recently. She chewed a pair of my sandals the week the family was on vacation. I thought she was just letting me know that she wasn't very happy  It didn't stop. She has eaten a pair of flip flops, a book, paper, pictures and potpourri. (that she took off of a low shelf). She has also chewed on another pair of sandals. It is weird.

Any suggestions.
Laurie

Has anything changed? are they both spayed?

I'd check her teeth too, maybe something in her mouth is irritating her?
Nothing has changed and they both are spayed.

I don't yell at her because I haven't caught her but as soon as I get home she slumps over and just looks at me when I get to the area of her chewed treasure. She is not always home alone when this happens....sometimes the kids are home. Could her diet be lacking something. She has been on Purina Pro PLan since we got her. The shoes were cork and rubber and pictures and paper and a bowl of potpourri. I sure hope she doesn't move to the expensive stuff!

She could just be bored. Is she getting enough exercise?
I'm thinking boredom too, does she get a lot a exercise/free play outside to wear her out?

Also does she like Kongs and chew toys, might be a good idea to redirect the chewing onto things like
I don't think she is bored. She plays all day and then takes a nap and starts all over again.
She doesn't seem to like her kong as much as she likes her soft toys. She also loves hard plastic toys, she rips them apart and wants to eat them. Maybe she is upset with me because I've been throwing them all away!
Maybe she doesn't like her Kong when it's empty... but maybe she'd like a stuffed Kong. Try stuffing it in layers with some of her food and cheese (or other treat) then seal the top with peanut butter. If she's occupied with getting treats out of the Kong, she won't be chewing what she shouldn't. You can even add a little water and freeze it to make it last even longer if she empties it fast.

Good luck! I hope you can catch her in the act soon. In the meantime look for expensive/precious things that should be moved to higher shelves.
There is a huge difference between playing all day and going for a walk. My girl is in doggy daycare all day so she always stimalated. But if I don't take her for at least one good long walk a day, she gets nuts and you can see the pent up engery ready to burst. Usually towards me! Well worth the walk, plus I need exercise too
