Mike,
Do you have a picture?? It's probably normal pigmentation! Some have the "eyeliner" affect - but others don't! The only thing that would be of concern to me is making sure that he isn't exposed to too much sun - they can get sunburned and develop skin cancer just like humans! Kristen |
Maggy has pink pigment around her brown eye and brown pigment around her blue eye. ??? For her it's simply the pigmentation.
When Jake sees the Vet, have him/her take a look at Jake's eyes so you can be sure everything is OK. |
Puddy also has pink pigmentation around both of his eyes (one brown and one blue). He does not seem to have any problems and the Vet did not seem to think that this was a problem. I agree that the best thing to do is ask the Vet on your next visit. |
LOL
Remy also has one blue and one brown. Both have pink skin around the eye, but the brown one has a blotch of black on the eye line. I just make sure she has bangs, to help sheild the sun. |
Baily's eyes are dark brown and the hair on one is gray and the other is white. The white haired eye is pink skinned and the grey haired eye is not. A past sheepie, Liz had white hair around both eyes and her skin was pink on both. She later developed an eyeliner around both (very pretty). Ask your vet but it is probably nothing to worry about.

Thanks for all of the help. |
Mike,
The "pigmentation" around the eye will continue to develop as well. He may get more pigmentation with age. Kristen |
Henry has blue eyes and a white head. He has some eyeliner (dark pigment) around both eyes but also some pink. Unless your vet says there is a problem, I think this only matters for show OES. Also if you keep him in a puppy cut, you should consider longer bangs so his eyes get some protection from the sun. |

I don't think eye pigmentation (surrounding the eye) matters in Conformation - Does it??? It's not indicated in the Standards that they require pigmentation. Any show people know the answer to this??? |
You should ignore what I said. I repeated (now I think not correctly) what Henry's foster mother told me. She had 4 OES and did show them. The requirement does not appear in the breed standard:

Well, it's been about 10 weeks. Have the eyelids started to turn or have they stayed pink? |
