I was pleasantly surprised to see Joe Diffie as the opening act. I have always liked his stuff. He and his band did a cover of the Soggy Bottom Boys song "Man of constant sorrow" from the movie Oh Brother, Where art thou, complete with fake beards and dancing. I almost peed my pants. Lonestar was amazing!! My Niece took lots of pictures. I will post some after she sends them to me. Hayley cried for the first 1/2 hour after I left but calmed down after that and was playing for a while. When we got back to my MIL's house Hayley, my nephew Zack (who is a couple of months younger than Hayley) and my Niece Catherine 14yrs old were all passed out on the living room floor. My niece Kim also took pictures of the kids sleeping. Definitely a great night out!! |

So glad you had a fun time! Maybe you'll get out more often now. |
I would love to get out more. Now I just need to find a babysitter
My MIL lives 45 minutes from here and is planning to move 2 hrs away. My Brother in Law Jimmy was the one that kept Hayley happy. After she was done with her crying and looking for Mommy episode she had a good time. Uncle Jimmy was crawling on the floor and pretending he was a cat. She loved it. She also kept going to see Uncle Jimmy's real cats. She also played with Jimmy's daughter Catherine and little Zack. Alan Jackson is playing at the same Casino in Oct. Maybe I can get my MIL to babysit again. Maybe I can also get Billy to go with me. He's not a country fan but he likes A.J. I really need to find a local babysitter. There are so many concerts at the local Casinos that I would love to see. |
Glad to hear you got a great night out! |
yeah, just glad you got to do it! ...have a night to yourself. It's a bonus that you actually enjoyed yourself! |
Sounds like a lot of fun. Todd and I own the Brother Where Art Thou DVD, and the Soggy Bottom Boys song is great! I bet the JD rendition was fun. Sounds like your evening out was a good time.
We were lucky that Todd's parents live close by - they were always willing to have the kids come over so we could have a night out. In fact when the girls were babies to 3 yrs old they spent every other weekend at their grandparent's because we had to work. They are 22 yrs old now, and still very close to their grandparents. I always felt bad for my friends with little kids and no family close by. |
So glad you had a good time
I need one of those night out things too... LOL I just never do...LOL |
Dawn,
It was great....except having to sit between my SIL and Niece. There was not much room for me as they are both very large. But all in all a great night. We used to live 4 miles from my parent's house and 3 from my sister's house and 3 from my Grandmother. But the house was a rental and we needed to buy since we couldn't find a place to rent that would allow our dogs. So we moved 105 miles away to the Desert. Where the houses cost less than 1/2 of what is costs near the coast. My best friend's Dad lives two blocks from me and has offered to watch the kids. He raised his daughter so I am sure he'd be a fine babysitter. What I don't know is whether Hayley would be ok with him. I know Ryan would. My sister has taken Hayley overnight and hopefully will again. I go visit with my family once every other week. I do wish we were closer but we could not afford a house in that area. |

Sounds like you had fun~
I'm sure finding sitters would get better as kids grow up more, right? Then you'll be out and partying all night in no time!!! |
