Now said man is not an idiot, he knows that said ingredient is not harmful, and also knows that it imparts almost no flavor. However, he had a "thing" against it at that time in his life. Not a complete ban, just a general dislike of it, one of VERY few things this man didn't relish on the dinner plate. Something about not eating foods that continue to grow and breathe in the refrigerator. After the meal, the said spouse and her sister had a grand old time informing said man about his consumption of said ingredient, at which point said man nearly returned the ingredient to the table. Said spouse has never done it again, and said man many years later finally got up the courgage to eat tofu again, on occasion, especially in hot and sour soup. The end. |

So Ron, when did YOU decide you had such a great dislike of tofu? I have never tried the stuff myself, sounds too healthy. |
Mmmm, I LOVE tofu!!
It IS good for you and takes up the flavor of whatever it is cooked in. It can come in silky (used for smoothies, etc) soft, firm and extra firm. I love the extra firm. A lot of times they deep fry it at asian restaurants, but that is no longer healthy, so either have it steamed or stir fried. Tempeh is another great product made of soy that you can use in your sandwiches in place of the meat (it isn't one of those meat-like products where they try and pretend it's bologna) |
We have fried tofu regularly. I love love it. |
I'm utterly ambivalent to said food product, but would never purposefully consume or cook it. If a food product can't be bothered to have a taste of it's own, then I can't be bothered with it. I wouldn't refuse to eat it if someone served it to me though. |
