Congratulations and welcome! Teddy sounds like a wonderful puppy. Anything under 8 weeks is rather young to go home -- you may need some extra patience for your little baby as he matures without the guidance of his mom or the feedback from his mates. Do you have any other dogs in your home? I would love to see some pictures of your sweetie. |
Welcome to the forum!
Can't wait to here more about Ted's antics! *cough* Pictures would be nice! *cough* |

Thanks for the lovely welcome. My cute little furball has just turned into a gremlin since his worming tablet this afternoon! I hope now I can get some more weight on him, he has a huge appetite. |
He's adorable! Enjoy your gremlin! |

He's a cutie - he has the same eyes as my Bingley! |
Aw, he is adorable. Generally it is adviseable to keep the pups with Mum and the other kids so they learn their puppy manners......how to play and react in social situations. Since your little guy come to you a bit early, once he gets his puppy vaccinations, find a puppy class and enroll him. He needs socialization in a supervised environment.
First the worms, then the vaccinations, then puppy class. After puppy class, obedience class. This guy looks like he's going to be a charmer and a terror. Prepare yourself (that's why we usually have multiples, we love the OES rush) |
Congrats on your adorable pup. This forum is great for support and info. I wish I would have found it years ago. |
Thank you all for the wonderful response to Teddy. here I am at 6 am playing puppies. I managed to get a bit more sleep last night when I realised that Teds training regime was working and that he had me at his call whenever he felt lonely! I know it is a bit hard on him to leave his family so soon but he was weaned at 5 weeks due to a teat injury sustained by his mum. After getting up 4 times between 10pm and 2am I managed to ignore the whimpering and after about 15 mins it stopped and he settled. I had a sneaky peep at him and found him partying with his toy rabbit listening to the radio!
I am lucky to be able to spend most of my time here with him, I know another pup would have been perfect but I hope I can be second best. My last old english was brought up by my golden retriever I know how she must have felt! |
Probably best for mommy dog not to have some little thing grabbing at her nipples then. Was Teddy an only puppy? Too bad he doesn't have other playmates, but sounds like you are filling in nicely. He'll just be more spoiled and need that socialization so the other dogs can teach him proper dog to dog behavior.
too bad you don't still have a goldie.......what a nice Mommy dog substitute. You'll be able to catch up on sleep in ........oh a few months. s. |
I couldn't open the picture |
Ted has been catching up on his sleep today....I took a few more photos of him you might be able to see these Stacey..hope so. Just started him on science formula puppy food he seems to love it..hope his tummy gets better soon.
Ted was one of 5..the smallest. I wish my goldie was here too! |
Lindy, what a handsome puppy. I too got my Chauncey at an early age, 6 1/2 weeks, and the first 2-3 months were a challenge. I truely believe this was because he didn't have more time with mom & the litter to learn socialization. Be patient and practice good pack skills and within a few months you'll have the love of your life ( or at least the 2nd ). Kathy |
Awe , what a little angel. Congratulations! Welcome. |
thanks ever;yone. It was a good decision to get an nother so soon after porridge. Young Ted hasn't been a replacement but j;ust a contuinateee in our life |
He's adorable! Our choice of names was "Fozzie" and "Teddy". When we met him though, he definitely was a Fozzie Muppet! |
He's SO cute! And one blue/one brown eye, too! There's a special place in my heart for that, since my Drez's eyes are like that, too. And on the same side even!! |
He's adorable!
I'ts a lot of job with them, but you get a lot of love back I have a litle puppi too, she is 9.5 weeks |
Yet another coincidence.....Poor Mr Porridge crossed the bridge the day befor Ted was born...I chose him over the phone that day cause i needed his tail left on...when we got him he had a blue eye..the left one ...the same as Mr P...... |
