Quote: More than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East, according to a new Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.
Aliens really did land in Roswell and genetically changed the brains of the babyboomers who are now university professors or who control press so as to turn this country's mind to a collective bowl of oatmeal. |

I would agree that they assisted, by not having our borders protected. I would agree that they took no action to stop them because of the reports they had prior to 911 of a possible threat.
After 911 all of the additional protective devices they installed were "inside" the country. If they were doing their job of keeping the country secure at its borders there wouldn't be a need for extra security inside! My thought on that one is "control" of US citizens, not potential terrorists. Which means, it could happen again at any time. |
one thing that i saw on tv the other night re: border patrol was that they (the border patrol) failed 100% with fake id's and let undercover agents into the country....ironically, a bartender picked out the correct fake id... |

Re: Border control
I'm not surprised to hear about this... but shouldn't a border control officer be just as concerned about fake IDs as a bartender? It's much easier to get into Canada than into the US. Going into Canada with a pickup truck full of stuff after living in the US on a student work visa for 4 months, they didn't even check my ID. They asked a couple questions (alcohol or cigarettes?) then waved us through. Mind you, that was probably because we had Ontario plates on the truck... but still... guy didn't even put down his newspaper. Meh! Come one, come all! Can't speak for all Canadians or even most, but we're really not really worried about terrorists.... ever. I've found US border control to be much more thorough... but that might be because I'm not an American citizen. They always check ids and ask a bunch of questions... I also notice that they scan/swipe my passport as well. |
One of the things that they were talking about was instead of just showing a drivers license to get into the US, is to have to have a passport.....which kinda makes sense to me...I mean duh, you have to have a passport to travel from country to country in Europe....I believe we are the only country that a drivers license will get you to and from Mexico and Canada... |
I'm sure it isn't talk, it is going to be the law... I'm just not sure what date it becomes law. They announced it early, giving people lots of time to get passports. There are many people who cross the border to shop (in both directions) and many people who don't have passports.
Thing is, now any US citizens who go to Mexico or Canada - where you are allowed in without a passport - will need a US passport to get back into your own country! That could inconvenience a lot of people. It does make sense to require a passport though, because I'm pretty sure they're much more difficult to conterfeit than a driver's license or birth certificate. We always bring our passports just in case, even though it isn't law yet. |

Some of the border officers now include, with every pass over the border, a nice long lecture about how if you don't have a passport soon, you won't get into the country, blah, blah, blah. I say blah, blah because I bring my passport, license, and birth certificate EVERY time I cross the border but there's always one moron that we go with that only has his license so we have to get the talking-to on the way back into the U.S. Actually, in Europe, a lot of the borders are open now-- if you're driving, you don't even know you're in another country unless you notice the language change on the signs. |
I know the Mexico passport thing is required starting Jan 1, 2007...so I would assume that same date would be for Canada too...
How silly for people to honestly think that the US assisted in the attack. Yes, we weren't prepared, but that doesn't constitute assistance. |
On the weekend we crossed over the U.S./Canadian border and were not asked for any ID, either way.
The guy did have me dump the 4 cups of dog food I had in the van, but that was only after he asked me if we had any. |
Has anyone seen Farenheit 911 by Michael Moore?
Not only does the documentary "hint" that the US officials aided in 911, (well he really attacks Pres. Bush in general..) but also planned the attack in advance as to start the war in Iraq to take over the oil supply. |

True, that was one of the provision of the European Union - common access and currency. So now the Muslim fundamentalists have free range in Western Europe. However, in my opinion we shouldn't rely on the security arrangements in any other country, particularly Mexico, and should require passports at the border. Anyone who is too lazy to apply for a passport and renew it once every ten years should stay home on the couch. Tangential rant: Another thing that makes me crazy - people who think they should be able to travel freely all over the world, yet if something happens that their government should get them back home safely in the shortest possible time. How is your government supposed to know where you are? When I go to countries that are unstable, I register with the US Embassy as soon as I get there and I carry both a map to the Embassy and a copy of my passport with me at all times. Americans need to start taking responsibility for their own safety. |
