Does anyone here play Pinochle?

Do any of you play Pinochle? My husband and I love it, but we haven't found anyone in our area to play it with. Is it a rare game?!!

I don't think it's rare, I just thought you had to be over 60 to play it.

No, it's one of those games like bridge that I assume will always be a mystery to me!
Isn't that the game that requires a special deck with like 100 Jacks in it?

I guess you can tell I don't play.
Emily, It's an all time FAVORITE, vacation tradition in my house. My kids started playing it about the time they could hold cards. We used to have MARATHON tournaments every summer while we were on vacation. Hmmmmmm, we are leaving for the beach a week from today, I'L HAVE TO PACK THE PINOCHLE CARDS!!! (and I'm not over 60.................YET  )

Perhaps you don't appreciate the fine art and cunning hand it takes to play a game such as . . . PINOCHLE. :rimshot:

We need to reinstate it - it is a fun game! Ron - the deck only has A, 10, K, Q, J, 9 cards. So it does have a lot of J's!! It is supposed to be similar to Rook, but I've never played Rook so I wouldn't know details!
You can play PINOCHLE (Pinocle or Penuchle, too) online at Yahoo...

I have been known to play a few hands of Bridge at Yahoo as well, but not recently.

I don't think I've ever heard of it...

Lol. I don't deny that! I thought that was why you had to be 60-- you need many years of wisdom to develop the skills!
I used to play pinochle a long, long time ago. I used to go to "feather" parties and play when I was in my 20's. I really don't remember how to play, but my daughter, who just turned 30 plays it on the computer all of the time. When she was married, she used to play it a couple of times a week with her in laws. Her Mother in law played everyday with her parents. So Pinochle is still alive and well. lol
Hmm...I've never heard of it.
I'm not trying to be condescending, but I know the first time I saw the word, I thought it looked crazy. Picture the pronunciation as pee-knuckle, if you weren't already!

Yea, thought this was up there with Mahjong until a friend of mine (who's even younger) told me she plays with a group every week. Anyone play that? I don't have a clue, but it seems that it is an Asian game that is popular with the Jewish population

I know that one :) I love to play Mahjong.
3 Bam?
I've heard of pinochle, but all I know about it is that the worms play pinochle in your snout...
The worms go in, the worms go out?
Great, that'll be stuck in my head the rest of the day.
I have never heard of pinochle! Maybe I'm too young....

If you only play with the 9's, 10's, Jacks, Queens, Kings and Aces... it does sound a lot like Euchre. In Euchre you only play with those cards and the game is played with 4 people - 2 pairs of partners. A team wins when they get 10 points. Is that what pinochle is, or is it different from Euchre?
I grew up playing pinochle, although I haven't played it in years - can't get my husband to want to try it! Our family played every Sunday afternoon. It was a lot of fun, and I do miss playing it.
Chris, come on up to my house, I'm always looking for someone to play with!!!!!!
I decided to test the "over 60" theory. I walked over to my neighbor's yesterday armed with a pinochle invitation. Unfortunately, our "grandparent-ly" neighbors are not card players, and I am still left without pinochle partners. :?
My husband and I love to play pinochle but can find no one to play either. What is you're area???
We love to play pinochle too--but can't find anyone to play.
I ate cake once with pinochle icing and rummy drinks.. 8O

This l o n g winter and snow is making me Crazy..8's!!!! :twitch:
