Recommendation for a Good Groomer in Houston, Tx.

Last week I took my OES to get shaved. She came out looking like "Angelica" from the Rugge Rats. I believe they left her ears to long and it's makes her look real funny. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I've never groomed Big Ben, he's always gone to the "puppy salon" (as my kids call it) and to be honest they've always left his ears fairly long if his facial hair is also long. Sometimes he looks goofy when he is first shaved but I've always figured it was just the big difference between having tons of hair vs. him being 'naked' .

Houston is a big city, I live on the NW side and always liked Stuebner-Airline/Champions Boarding & Grooming. The owner had shown her dog (Bichon) and has a great business, several groomers on staff, etc. I haven't taken Ben there for a while as their weekend hours are not great and it is about a 25 minute drive in traffic - just too tough on a work day. We've been taking Ben to the groomer in our Vet's office. She typically does a nice job although the last time he seemed to still have matting after his bath. We are probably going to shave him this summer but I've promised my daughter to wait until after the first grade Pet Day at her school.

Our next door neighbor, who I love but is VERY fussy with everything in her life, takes her Sheltie to Steubner-Airline as well. I've seen a lot of very unusual dogs there, not just the 'typical' breeds. They had three regular OES' at one point. We've both boarded our dogs there, they always seem to do fine in their care.

I must say it was a lot of trial & error when we first moved to Tomball. Lots of groomers and vets to search through in this area!!
The ears do take a while to grow out, so most people leave them alone if they are in good shape. I wish we had cable, I don't know what Angelica off of Rugge Rats looks like, so I guess my advice is probably not that good.
Houston is huge and has hundreds of groomers. There's some in Clear Lake, Tomball, Katy, SouthWest, Westhiemer, and Sugarland online.
Good Luck!
We'll I live within the 610 loop so I can drive SW part of town or NW or Memorial, Galleria since it wouldn't take me to long to get there. I went to PetMart off 290-Fairbanks dropped her off before work and picked her up after work. I guess I'm going to have to just try out different places.
Not sure if this would be convenient, but I saw a special on Channel 13 news (Marvin Zindler, of course) about Rover Oaks....this place looked incredible! Just looked at their website www.roveroaks.com and it appears it is just south of the south loop on West Bellfort. I don't know that area at all but if I lived or worked even remotely close to this place Ben would have tried it long ago!

I take my oes to a great place called 20th street grooming in the heights area. I am very happy with them.
You might want to contact the texas rescue for a grooming referral...I know thay have some people in Houston. The link is below~
