Ever wonder how they get those potato skins for stuffing? I don't think we will need a translation... Hey! Can we use the ummm peelings for stuffed skins? Recipes? Twice baked skins? Deviled potatoes? |

One picture is worth a thousand words. I don't think we need a translation.
Can we post videos in our messages? |

Can we post videos in our messages? George! I just asked the same thing via PM. You know what they say (great minds. . .) Thanks and all, cool potato trick. But how do we embed video?? |
I liked the 10 second count, complete with fingers!
No, right now I'm the only one with the ability to embed the HTML codes into a forum post that would allow for a video to be posted. I don't do it very often, because most of the time they start to play and are really bad for people with slower connections, but YouTube seems to have figured out a way (using flash) to make their videos small, and to only start them when people want. I'm not that sophisticated -- yet! |
So, um, was the product they were selling ice water? |
who the heck peels their potato by picking?? |

No recipes for twice baked and/or loaded skins or deviled potatoes? |
What a GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to try that!!!!!! |
WOW!!!
That's sooooo cool!! THanks for sharing Ron~ I'm gonna go and try it RIGHT NOW! |
Let us know if it REALLY works!!! |
I just tried to do it and I must admit it's hard!
It actually takes some finesse to peal it in one piece. (or... maybe I'm delinquent!! ) I couldn't get the ends to come off in one full piece, but besides half inches at the ends the middle areas just came right off~ |

I actually ended up cooking the potato instead (lol) My husband just pointed out that I only need to place it in the boiling water for very short. Going to try again |
Nope
I still couldn't get it to peel off like they show it... Please anyone let me know if you do |
I think you are supposed to cook it completely. If you look at the video again you'll see that the potato went from beeing peeling to being mashed. |
Yep- I'm pretty sure they are using a fully boiled potato. I beleive the idea is:
A) remove the "eyes" of the potato B) score the potato skin in a complete circle around the middle of the potato C) boil the potato, cooking it completely. I'm looking at that variety they used- this technique will probably work better with the thin skinned red or golden varities, rather then the thick skinned baking potatos. D) Remove boiled potato to an ice water bath, removing after 10 seconds E) remove skins by firmly de-sleeving potato. I'm pretty sure that the thicker skinned potatos aren't going to work as well with this technique... You normally wouldn't boil those, and those are the types that you would use a "holder" ala twice baked or potato skins... I'm not to sure what you could do with those bad boys once removed. I don't think they'd be thick enough to hold up to any preparation methods... |
