No Longer Welcome at the Groomer...

I think that Bear is now destined only to be groomed at home. I went to pick up all three dogs from the groomer yesterday afternoon. I was almost an hour later than the time that they specified but they were, strangely, still working on Bear. I watched the groomer clean out his ears and I mentioned that he really must have some respect for her to sit still like that. She goes "Oh no, this one's got his own temperament issues." I asked her what she meant...

Apparently, while working on Clyde and Lucy, they put Bear into a cage in the back. Bear decided that he didn't want to be in a cage while his brother and sister were up front so, Incredible Hulk-style, he bent out the bars on the crate and rammed the weakened area until the whole crate busted open. It was pretty much destroyed. When he escaped, he just came running back up front and everyone freaked out-- where did this giant white dog come from? They went in back and found the remains of the crate.

She didn't tell me not to come back but I think that I'll just invest in a good dryer and move my operation home. I'm a little embarrassed to take him back there.

LOL.... Bear just wanted to watch over the others maybe ....LOL... or be first.
Obviously Bear just wanted style approval.

He just missed Clyde and Lucy and wanted to be near them. They are his family...actually sounds normal to me.
Sorry, Jill, but that is hilarious    I can just picture Bear lumbering into the grooming area, all excited to be there "I'm HERE! I'm HERE!"

But what does that have to do with his temperament?

Sounds more like physical issues they have to deal with
Wow. I can picture it all in slow motion in my head.

Was he gentle, though? I mean, he wasn't aggressive when he came running up front, just like Hey Guys! He wasn't being aggressive and trying to protect Clyde and Lucy?
WOW!! He missed his friends and wanted 2 join in the fun!
He was probably pretty proud of his accomplishment and came galloping out all excited.
What kind of a crate was it?
Maybe you can lend him to Marianne for her magic act!
LOL, too funny. He's not stupid that's for sure.
I don't blame him for not wanting to be back there by himself! He's smart and strong - that's a good combination.

So, are you going to just groom Bear at home? Or Clyde & Lucy too? :?

You should tint him green and he could be the Hulk for Halloween...you can make him ripped shirt or pants to wear. :excited:
That is kind of funny! They should just let him wander around the place instead of putting him in a crate. Maybe you could suggest that for next time as long as he didn't do anything else naughty. Supposedly Annie stays up front protecting the cash register until it's her turn :D
LOL...I can just see it!! That was my question too, why did they say that he had temperment issues? Did you have to pay for the destroyed crate??? 8O
I don't see a temperament issue, I see a dog who disliked, hated, being crammed into a undersized crate. I suspect my Sam used to do things like that (probably not bust out though) as he'd always be waiting up front, tied to a bar or sitting on a groomer.

Good goin' Bear! I'm proud of you!

Do you have a self serve doggie-mat there? All the grooming stuff is available including walk up stairs to the tub and a force dryer. You do your own dog, but you have the groomer equipment. Little business opportunity??

Gads, I hope they didn't try to brush out his cords!
The last time I brought Pepsi & Rags to the groomer to get their nails cut, the dog who wasn't getting their nail's done at the time had to be right there to see what was going on. They are very protective of each other.
Maybe Bear needed to make sure that his brother and sister were OK.

I think it was just her choice of word more than anything. He wasn't aggressive when he escaped. I think he just did a few victory laps until someone tackled him. ;) I got the heck out of there before they asked for any reimbursement. I tipped an extra $50 on top of the normal tip so it should cover most of it anyway-- they had to give him 2 baths, too because he was filthy. Dirt gets deep where you can't see it on Koms. ;)

It was metal. Something like this but it looked not quite as sturdy-- of course, it's hard for anything to look sturdy in pieces.

Lol. I'm sure that's exactly what it was. Like any puppy, he wanted to hang with his family and not be alone. So, Bear did what seemed logical: he was gonna bust out and get to them. I think they really underestimated his strength and will to get out. I have a feeling that's what she meant.

One thing about Bear, and Koms in general, they watch and protect their flock. I'll bet it made him crazy to hear Clyde or Lucy and not be able to be there to protect them.

They do a nice job on the other two so I think they'll keep going there. They did a nice job on Bear too although they were horrified by his condition. She admitted that she didn't know the breed and the matts really freaked the groomer out. She made me feel terrible-- so much so that I e-mailed his foster mom when I got home for reassurance that Bear's coat really was ok!
haha thats hilarious! if you ever feel bad about your dogs at the groomer just remember that walter has been kicked out of four different groomers. and my best friend who is a groomer has begged me never to bring him to her again.

Wow, you win! Did he ever bust out or is he just crazy?
When Walter is put in a cage he just barks and whines a whole lot, definitely not a hulkster like Bear! He's just very very anxious at the groomer so he turns into a wildman... oh and he bites anyone who tries to demat him, touch his paws, or his beard  some of the groomers were nice and just said they couldnt handle him but others were very very rude and condescending.
Wow! That's wild. What a good, bad boy. 8)
Way to go Bear! I can just see him runnig around all excited. Don't blame him for not wanting to be in the back in a crate.
When my sister moved back here, she took her samoyed to a groomer. She warned them "DO NOT CRATE HER, she will panic". Well do you think they listened? She destroyed the crate, a door and the carpet!!!
Ha Ha Ha, clever superman bear, man of steel, nothing will stand in his way.
Go Bear. He didn't want to be left out and he wanted to protect his siblings.

Since they just got groomed. Does this mean we get to see more pictures? Yay.
Lol I chuckled too when reading your post..the visualization was just too funny of Bear doing an impersonation of the Incredible Hulk.
