I don't understand how can they leave Jordan out of the grid, and the only mention of Jordan is in the intersection of Egypt and Israel.
Israel shares perhaps its longest border with Jordan, and their relationship is extremely complicated. I would have enjoyed their take on it. Thanks for sharing the link! |
Thanks for the link! And good point about Jordan. |
I was just wishing for something like this while I was watching the news today. A simplified explination of a not so simple time in the mid-east. |
Since the Muslims also fight among themselves...it makes peace seem impossible. Plus the idiot in Iran who is willing to start launching missles to end the world.....is it spooky. |
Interesting!! |
Wow, Israel is in a bad spot - they don't get along with any of their neighbors. It's sad that religion plays such a huge part of war/dislike. I know it always has for as long as the history books have been written, but it seems like there would be more kindness and acceptance of others religions than hatred and war. It should be that way at least. |
That's a great link. I'm always trying to absorb it all.
My husband just got a new job, and he has to learn Arabic now. Fun stuff. I make fun of him all the time when I hear him downstairs in the computer room trying to pronounce everything. Very hard language. |

It makes sense to me, though. I mean, Israel was 'created' 60 years ago and they just plunked themselves down in the middle right there. Took up precious coastline and displaced current residents and many of the settlers had been living in Europe forever, really, and had no ties to the Middle East (aside from ancient ancestry). |
I never really understood the whole Isreal thing (still don't). I remember when I was in college a bunch of students talking about going to live in "the homeland". They were American citizens, Jewish, who left this country to go to Isreal. |
That is pretty simplified and helpful. Understanding is the first step toward peace. |

There's a story in the Bible about a man and his two sons. See Genesis Chapter's 16 - 17 in the Holy Bible. There you will find the explanation for the hatred toward Isreal. Woe be it unto them that do not support her. People can't be accepting of others religions if they're true believer's in their own. An example: A true Christian believes in salvation. If another person believes something different, the Christian is responsible for spreading the Word, and the truth of salvation to others so that they too might be saved and enter into the Kingdom of God. But, the other person has the choice of accepting or not. In my case, I hope they accept God's plan of redemption. Isreal won't fall in this battle. God is on her side, and I pray the US is too. |

I am in a Bible Study Foundation group. It takes 7 years to complete. Last year, we studied Genesis, 1 chapter 1 week at a time. It was very interesting to really learn WHY they all hate each other and how it came about.
That's about all I'll say as I would never push religion on anyone. But I can say, if you really want to know how it all came about, go to Genesis! Ali |
BUT if you go to Matthew 22:37-40 you'll find a new way of looking at things. |
I think now would be a good time to stop this conversation before we have another holy war.
I just liked this site because it made it a lot easier to follow a lot of what was going on-- I didn't want this to turn into a discussion about why the fighting started. Perhaps that would be better off in Food for Thought or another forum altogether. JMO. |
Agreed! |
Agreed! Keeping religion and politics out has kept this friendly. Several times I've wanted to chime in, but erased them.
