Here are just a few pictures from the past month: View from Diamond Head, which was a pain to hike up but had some really nice views. And these pictures are from when my boyfriend came to visit. We went on an ATV ride through Kualoa Ranch. It was absolutely beautiful and we got to go really fast and up some pretty crazy trails. We also stopped in a valley where scenes from Lost, Mighty Joe Young, Jurassic Park, You Me and Dupree, and 50 First Dates were filmed. This is a view of the mountains Somehow I got a lot dirtier than everyone else, my face was covered and it looked like I had quite a mustache. This is from a beach near turtle bay, I love the trees here they are all so crazy looking and fun to climb. And if you were wondering about the car situation, here is a picture of my boyfriend trying to feed it vegetable oil so we could make it to the biodiesel station in town. We didn't know it at the time but a tube in the engine was ripped and the biodiesel was spraying all over. So that is car #3 that broke on me and I've had to rely on hitch-hiking up and down the mountain I live on and taking the bus, which isn't as bad as it sounds. That's it for now, I'll probably post some more pictures and some of Walter when I get back! |

Ack, those car troubles bite. But Bio diesel! You're quite the pioneer! Sometime we ought to swap some war stories about being on the bleeding edge.... I'll tell you about our "state of the art" GPS system, and breaking down and having the motorhome towed in Alaska, and you can tell me about your cars!
I'm glad you've survived being away from Walter... please take some extra moments to smell the flowers over the next few days. Looking forward to seeing you from home again. |
Hi,
Well I for one am so glad to see a dirty faced upright on this forum instead of a dirty faced sheepie! Signed Merlin, Panda and Blue 927415g a jgqryqwtf6w3872#$@#@,,,Haaaaaaa got my computer back from the boys whom hijacked my computer... Marianne and the boys PS love those photos and bet Walter is going to be so happy to see you! |
Great pics, Heather! I'm glad you have enjoyed your time in Hawaii. I especially love the picture of you hanging in the tree. Reminds me of myself about 20 years ago. |
Wow, has 2 months gone by already???
GREAT pictures!! I'd be SO excited to get back to Walter too!! We want pictures of the reunion! |
How pretty! Were people looking at your boyfriend like he was nuts as he was pouring vegetable oil in a gas tank? Other than the crappy car troubles, have things gotten better as time went on? |
Looks like you got out and at least had some fun while you were there!
I can't wait to see what Ed's gonna post (that's what you get for posting a pic of yourself in a bikini!) |
My boss has a diesel Mercedes he converted to run on used cooking oil. He drives it everywhere although it does smell like French Fries and Fried Seafood.
forgot to sign in: batonrougesheepies P.S. I love the pictures and glad you had a good time. |
Great Pictures and I bet Walter can't wait to See You!! |
Heather, brian and i hiked diamond head ONE time...at first I thought it was going to be a nice leisurely hike...then it went to switchbacks, then the stairs, then the tunnel, then the spiral stairs, then climb thru the gun turrett, then more hiking, more stairs....when we got to the top I asked where the slide was
it was beautiful up there, but man, if youre afraid of heights, its a doozie....at least i wasnt wearing sassy sandels like some of the japanese tourists.... |
Sooo pretty! Glad you had a great time. |
I cannot believe your time there is almost up, it has gone really fast......for me!!!!!!!!
Great pictures! I cannot imagine fueling your car from a veg oil bottle. |
The pictures are great!! I like the ones with you in it. You look like you lost some weight from the last pic I remember seeing you in. |
thanks everyone! I am actually having a much much better time, it's amazing here and I have spent more time than not laying around the beach. I am still frustrated with the guy I'm working for, but once I realized that this trip was more about exploring the island than doing work, I started having a better time.
When the biodiesel car was working I loved it.. biodiesel is cheaper and lasts longer than regular fuel, and yes it does smell like french fries haha. Makes me wonder why more cars aren't made to run on it. When we picked up the vegetable oil from Wal-Mart the cashier asked us what we were doing with all that oil and the look on her face when we said 'filling up our gas tank' was priceless. Ron, I would love to swap stories sometime, I'll save the story about how we found out the Mercedes was broken for then. Darcy- Haha, it was funny to see the looks on everyone's faces at the top of Diamond Head... all red and sweaty (myself included). I was looking for an escalator for the way down, but a slide sounds much more fun! |
Hey, Heather. Glad to hear you ended up having a good time! The pics are great...I want to go back to Hawaii so bad. Maybe next year! I know in reality it isn't funny, but your problems with all the cars just cracks me up! Give us a buzz when you get home and we'll put the pups in their places! |
Beautiful pics!
I bet Walter will be happy to see you too:) |
The mountain on the right looks like a face with a pirate patch. Just beautiful pictures. I bet when you get home you'll remember it as being more fun than it was.
I bet your parents will be glad you're home safe and not hitchhiking. It's fun to go away but it's always great to get home. |

I hope you have fond memories from your internship. |
