It was so sudden...

Guinness, one of the stars of www.WiggleBus.com , passed away yesterday morning at the age of 3.

Laurel, Guinness' mother and Administrative Assistant for the WiggleBus story, passed along this sad information on the OES-L:

Quote:
With the saddest of hearts, to tell you our Guinney Gumdrops, Love of our life sheepiegirl passed away this morning. She was only three. Nothing is known. She had a wonderful life, a wonderful weekend. Slept on our feet.

Did the happy dance this morning for breakfast. An hour later she was gone from us. The vet said it did not appear to be bloat.
[...]
In three years she gave us the joy of a life time.... Please hug all our list sheepies with the continued appreciation that we never know how long these precious gifts are with us. In tears.....

Joan and I met Guinness a couple of years ago at the Red Woof Inn in Connecticut, and we saw her just a few weeks ago at the WiggleBus Garage, along with Henry and Patrick and the rest of the gang. Guinness greeted me by peeing on Laurel's Claire Murray Old English Sheepdog Rug.

Joan and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Guinness.

Ron,

I am also deeply saddened and SHOCKED about Guinness! I can't seem to get my mind around the fact that she's gone at the age of 3! It's so sad!

My heart goes out to Laurel and her entire family! She is one of the nicest people on earth - who would do anything for anybody! I just wish there was something I could do for her in her time of grief!

I just can't seem to stop crying! What a kick in the gut!

Laurel has asked that we all HUG our sheepies - as you don't know how long you will get the chance! I hope everyone takes the opportunity to love and cherish everyday you have!

God Speed Guinness! Your time on this earth was far too short!

Kristen, Brittney, Presley and Sydney
My heart to goes out to Guinness's family. Even though I did not know them I would like to send out my deepest sympathy on their sudden loss.

Laurel - I am so terribly sorry to hear of your loss. While I don't know you personally, I feel we are all connected through the love of our sheepies and therefore, we are all a family of sorts. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Guinness.
I had never heard of wigglebus.com before today. When I saw that Ron posted the address, I went there and checked it out. It is obvious that Laurel really loves her sheepies and others. It is awful to hear about the loss of their "baby", as they really do become part of our family. I hope that having the rest of the crew around will help her with her healing from her loss. She is in our thoughts and prayers.
Ron, Joan

Thank you for posting about Guinney. I so enjoyed my time spent at Wigglebus.com last week when you added it as a link.

You know it's right up my alley like all those other Sheepie lovers that are keeping tabs on the Wiggebus travels. So many like us want a movie, book and more.

Of course, I just got in from work and have now been in tears the last half hour or so but don't think Guinness would like us to be so down. So I'd like to think that Guinney has gotten a hold of Mom's Master Card again and may be just out there traveling around sending notes back to the Wigglebus gang on what places to travel to next.

Happy Trails to you Guinney, Until We Meet Again........
Dear Laurel and family,

Our sympathies for your loss.

To Laurel and family,

These condolences are never easy to write. What can we say that can convey the sadness we feel when we hear about the loss of a loved one? They are so special to us and their personalities make our day brighter.

When someone as special as yours passes on at such a young age it makes it all the more sadder and their loss unbearable. Guinness, was a beloved dog that lived a wonderful and happy life with you and all her furried friends. What a good life you gave this wonderful Sheepie!! Although their time on this earth was short, know that I'm sure every day were happy ones for this furball. I wish to offer my deepest condolences to all of you.

I am so sorry about the loss of Guinness! I just read the WiggleBus adventures last week! Its so difficult to accept the loss of your loved one, especially when she was so young. Has there been any updates on why she passed? For me, knowing why, always helped the healing process. I am so sorry!
The sudden death of Guinness has saddened so many people. She was the other half of the Guinness and Henry team who wrote so many entertaining post on the List. Laurel has added pages to the wigglebus and it is brillant as only she could do. Sending well wishes and wishing the family peace.
I wrote to Laurel directly on WiggleBus.com and received this reply. I wanted to share it as it is so lovely:

After a week of tears and scanning all our memories, we are emerging from the shock of Guinness's sudden passing and able to try to express our thanks at your being there for us during this time.

Guinness was the type who would "barge" her way into everything, so why should Heaven be any different. If there is anyone minding the Pearly Gates, they have certainly been knocked on their celestial butts by our little one storming up to her next adventure.

The shock of it is exactly like you would imagine, but at the end of a week, the overwhelming feeling is gratitude. What a ton of love and how she stole our hearts! It's so funny how life unfolds. While I thought the darn WiggleBus would die before anyone else in the house, we have had the time of our life in it. Thankfully, she had a few weeks in it before she had to go. Everywhere we go in the wigglebus, people ask us about the sheepdogs and rescue. If I had a nickel for everytime someone has spotted the wiggle bus in real life and came up to us to tell us they "used to have a sheepie" or "they knew Grannie Annie", or ask for the phone number to rescue... we'd all be rich! LOL

I am just so grateful from the bottom of my heart that Guinness was on the first crew of the bus, and that, as painful as the memories are right now, her snout print is on the window forever. Guinness and her love of life was an inspiration to me, and I'm so glad that I could share some of her spirit with you. It's so quiet at my house, I'm wondering if this is how "normal" people live! LOL I've read enough Tale's Ends to know that she will be up there picking out someone new for us when the rescue dust is ready to fall again...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write and for the all the love and support. I'm quite sure it kept the family sane. Well, as sane as we ever get here. ; ) We miss her terribly, but she was worth every tear we are shedding now. She was our little piece of heaven on earth. We should all get to be as happy as she was with "her snout out the window smelling millions of smells at 40 miles per hour"...

With love, Laurel, Bob, Matt, Henry, Patrick O'Malley and The Terriers --HT and Scruff.
Ron & Laurell,

So sorry to hear about your loss with Guinness. 3 years for any dog is way to short but it is especially short for "sheepie" owners. Sheepies seem to grow day by day with their personality. It is so amazing how much joy this breed of dog brings to everyone who comes in contact with them. The sudden death of a pet/friend is so hard to understand and to cope with. My thoughts are with you since I know what you are going through.

In September, we had to put Abby & Suzy down and they were just 5. Suzy had an advanced case of hip and spine trouble and we knew that we would probably have to make a decision on her within a year. Abby was always the picture of health and to our surprise on morning she just refused to go for a walk and moved like a crab. We took her to the vet and she had lost a lot of weight and it was discovered she had tumors in her breast area as well as her front legs. It was a complete shock to us. Unfortunately, we had purchased them from a puppy farm without knowing. Since they were twins, born together, inseperatable, we thought they should go to the Rainbow Bridge together.

Eight months later, its still hard not to see them. Sheepies are so much of your life. I know what you are suffering because I feel it daily myself. I've had four sheepies, Shannon who lived 13 years, Maggie who lived 12 and Abby & Suzy. Just remember all the times Guinness made you life so hard that you almost cried.

Take care !!
