-at my work (doggie daycare) we have different sections divided by 4 ft fences. i was in the little dog room rounding up the pups for their lunches and walter was not happy that he couldnt be by me, so he climbed over the fence!! there are only 2 other dogs that jump the fence and their both agile little dogs. can you imagine a 70 lb sheepie climbing a 4ft fence just to get to his mom? it was adorable but it scared everyone to death... hes such a clumsy pup. -when i got out of the shower this morning walter was waiting patiently by the bathroom door and the first thing i said to him was 'you look like you did something naughty', sure enough he had barged into my room (sometimes the doors in my house dont shut all the way) and eaten my homework and chewed up the book i was reading. i was mad, but his 'im sorry' face is too cute to punish |

*lol* Lil Walty I hope your teacher takes the "my dog ate the homework" thing as well as my sons teacher did Drake ate by sons home about a month ago, he turned it in with a bite and a rip. Drake also loves to try and take the books off the bookshelve to chew on Good luck with your teachers |
My daughter angela was suppose to write a short (3-5 sentences) story using her spelling words. I left the room to answer the door. Came back to see Angela trying to force Abbi's mouth open. She had her homework page in the other hand.
After I reprimanded and made her sit down and do her paper, I gave Abbi a treat. Couldn't wait to tell my husband about the incident that night. What a hoot. I would never have thought of TRYING to get my dog to eat my homework. Hope your incident turned out as well! Young dogs do get into anything they find. But wait until you have a kid of your own. They put sheepies to shame. |
I love Lil Walty stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always yearning for more!!! What a comical and mischeivious boy he is but that's what makes him so endearing! I could actually visualize him "climbing" over a fence, what a sight that must have been.
I'm not sure if Sheepies can compare with kids..I've had both ..ha! and I always think Sheepies are like 8 year old boys. They tire you out but you love em no matter what. Then the young'uns grow up and become dreaded teenagers and gasp want money and to borrow your car...yikes! Sheepies at least listen to you (the majority of the time). On the other hand, both test your patience..so maybe there are the same..but my vote is Sheepies are easier. |
Unfortunately I have experienced the climbing sheepdog!
When Ben came to live with us he was a horrible digger, no matter what we tried he would dig. For whatever reason he started to dig along our home's foundation and water would puddle around the house and seep into the basement. As a last resort we bought a dog run with six foot high fencing. We rarely put Ben in it because he would bark non-stop and we did not want him to disturb neighbors. One weekend my mother-in-law was visiting and babysat our kids for an afternoon. We specifically told her to leave Ben in his run, he had plenty of water and it was a beautiful day. When we got home he was in the backyard with her and the kids and she insisted that she had not let him out. We couldn't figure it out, the gate to the yard was closed, the kennel was closed, no holes under the fence...hmmm, magic? My husband decided to recreate the Houdini trick and put Ben back in the run. We all quietly waited in the backyard and he barked for a few minutes. All of the sudden you could hear the chain link shaking and there was Ben tetering over the top of this six foot fence! My husband ran over to catch him but obviously he had made it over just fine the first time. It was scary at the moment but the thought of this big dog sitting on top of a fence just makes me laugh now. From that day on we had to put a short chain on him inside the run. He still tried to climb out but couldn't get far! The weirdest thing was his digging for the most part stopped after this whole kennel incident. He would dig a little now and then but we actually grew grass and have had a crater-free yard for several years now! |
-haha! i hope bigben and walter never meet and conspire, i think they could teach each other a lot of mischievious behavior!
-agingright, your daughter is a crack up (dont tell her i said that, i dont want to encourage that haha...). i was able to reprint my homework but john stuart mill's liberty and utilitarianism sure took a beating... he keeps sniffing it in my bag and trying to get it out. do you think my professor would buy walters disdain for the theory as a valid critique? i dont think walter will stop providing me with naughty story material for quite a while, so ill be sure to keep updating on his adventures! |
