Worlds tallest dog..... The tallest dog on record was named Shamgret Danzas. He was 42 inches tall (at the shoulder!) and weighed 238 lbs. Worlds smallest dog..... The smallest dog in history was a tiny Yorkie from Blackburn, England. At two years of age and fully grown this little dude was an incredible 2.5 inches tall by 3.75 inches long! He weighed only 4 ounces! HE was approximately the size of a matchbox. Worlds oldest dog..... The oldest dog that has been reliably documented was an Australian cattle-dog named Bluey. He was put to sleep at the age of 29 years and 5 months! Worlds Best Drug Sniffing Dogs.....A US Customs Labrador named "Snag" has made 118 drug seizures worth a canine record $810 million. The greatest number of drug seizures by dogs is 969 in 1988. IN ONE YEAR! The team of "Rocky" and "Barco" patrolled the Texas and Mexico border, alias "Cocaine Alley." They were so good that Mexican drug lords put a price of $30,000 dollars on their heads. All dogs, from the German Shepherd to the tiny Poodle, are direct descendants of wolves. They can all breed together and produce fertile offspring. Technically they are of the same species. Dogs can very easily regurgitate. In fact, after eating wolves can travel significant distances back to their dens and regurgitate the food at will to feed their pups! Dogs can see color but it is not as vivid a color scheme as we see. It is much like our vision at twilight. Some authorities estimate that some dogs sense of olfaction (smelling) is as high as 1 million times greater than ours. |

Where'd these facts come from? Were there pictures? I really need to see a matchbox dog.

Sweet! Bear only has about 9 1/2 inches to go to beat him. |

Bear is still a puppy, isn't he? Maybe he'll break the record. |
Cool facts! |

He just turned 11 months old so he does still have growing to do. Sorry, I just measured for accuracy. He has 10 inches to go-- he's 32 inches at the shoulder and 68" from nose to tip of tail. |

He looks huge in your pics, but I didn't realize he was THAT tall. I still can't believe the 42" dog, lol Just looking at Brandon, it's hard to imagine a dog on all fours his height, lol |
I've always heard on tv that a irish wolfhound held the record for tallest. Or was it just tallest "breed"
Then recently, I heard on tv that it was back to a great dane? says 42.2 inches http://www.local6.com/news/5182294/detail.html http://www.bigpawsonly.com/worlds-talle ... atures.htm |

"He speak with fork tounge...." |
That tongue thing freaks me out. |
Hi,
Fun stuff to read - thanks for posting this! I knew the oldest dog on the planet had been a Australian Cattle dog otherwise known as Blue Heelers. I tell people my Blue is a young'un compared to that one. Blue at 17 wants to beat that record! When I attended the Canadian Pet Idol last week, they had a fun contest before the competion got under way. Biggest, smallest and most fashionable pet. The biggest which had two tied for first place was a mini pony and a mastiff, smallest was a hedgehog, and most fashionable went to a Scottie whom was wearing his Scottish kilt. However, the biggest laugh I got out of the day was when I met a lady whose Jack Russel was wearing a muzzle. She came to view the festivities and told me her dog was doing his impersonation of Hannibal Lector. Marianne and the boys |
That cat is freaky!
