My friends and i just got back from seeing M. Night Shyamalan's newest movie, The Lady in the Water. I love all of M. Night's movies...The Sixth Sense, Signs, even the Village. The Lady in the Water, lets just say was different...it was probably the strangest movie I've seen in a while. But i still really liked it. My friends on the other hand, didn't. It is not a movie for everyone, that's for sure, but if you like M. Night's previous movies, you'll probably like this one. |

Just tell me this: was it NOTHING, like his other movies wind up being in the end? All some sort of sham? Or is it more supernatural? I'd see it either way but James puts up fight to see M. Night Shyamalan's movies because he feels let down when he realizes things weren't what they were supposed to be! |
I loved the Sixth Sense, but haven't seen any other of his movies.
I do think Lady In The Water looks amazing judging by the trailers so far, but I want to see his other movies first if at all possible. |
it's played off as a fable or fairytale of sorts that he made up for his children. He wrote, directed and had a big acting part in this movie. It's really different than any of his other movies, but at the same time is soooo M. Night.
And Butterscotch...he actually follows through in the end. No crazy twists. |
In the usa today, it actually got really bad reviews.....bummer, I think ill wait for it to come out on video |
I'm boycotting his movies because I felt so cheated after I wasted 2 hours of my life watching The Village. |

Lol. You and James could have a nice long talk about that. I now enjoy his movies just to watch James get annoyed by them. |

Isn't there anything in the fiancee creed that says you must not torture the fiancee? |

Lol. Not when it's been a part of our lives for the past 4 years. I can't let a silly title change the torturing. |
We saw it this afternoon and we both loved it! It was such a fun story, within a story, within a story--with a bigger meaning. Very different from his other movies like Raquel said. I would think if you liked fairy tales, you might like this too since this was sort of fairy tale brought into modern times. Even James walked away saying how much he enjoyed it and he's been angry since The Village, too.
SOMEWHAT OF A SPOILER: I think I know why the film critics gave it the reviews it did, after the portrayal and resolution of the film critic character. |
Re: the film critic, that's exactly what I think too, It hits a little too close to home for them. |
We saw it over the weekend and I was disappointed. I thought the way they explained the story was pretty hokey. We also the 2nd Pirates movie and it was a hoot! |
This is the only movie of his that I am not too interested in seeing. It doesn't grab me like the others. Although I was grabbed by the Village but thought it wasn't good. |
