Two Legged Antics

As this quite didn't fit in with Sheepie antics but my own and since Merlin as intelligent as he is, can't type, I decided to post this rather humorous story here.

I had a late evening Thursday night as it was our annual card competition for the International Brotherhood of Magicians at our Ring (magicians club). I've always brought Merlin with me to get used to crowds since he was aprox 10 wks old. I was thrilled that with all the clapping and cheering amongst the 100 or so people Merlin didn't appear to be fazed at all. The members of my club have always been supportive of my bringing Merlin with me as I would like him to appear on stage with me some day.

The next day I was a bit tired as we didn't return until midnight and I had to go to work the next day. Upon my arrival home, Merlin and I visited the offleash dog park. It was a bit unusual as for the first time there were people there I didn't know.

Now this sounds like the start of a bad politically incorrect joke but I swear this story is true. (Merlin is my witness). At the park, I was looking forward to sitting on the bench while Merlin romped and played as he normally did and I could take it easy. Ha!

The four other people there, were two deaf ladies and one visually impaired woman (as she had a white cane,) all three came with a beautiful Golden Retriever, a young muscular guy wearing a muscle shirt and shorts with his friendly Pitbull and Merlin and I. The guy was throwing his Kong for his dog which had a string attached to it. After several throws it landed about 40 ft high on the outer branches of a tree. :O(

The Parks Board had chopped off all the lower branches to prevent people from climbing the trees so after many attempts to climb up he was dimayed as he couldn't get the toy down. Even the dogs were looking up!

One of the deaf ladies grabbed the blind ladies cane and wanting to help threw it up in hopes of knocking the toy down. Yikes! Her cane had a hook on the end and it too became stuck on the outer branches of another tree next to the one with the toy!!

I found a log in the bushes and leaned it against the tree and as I have rather small feet I found I could get my feet up on the knotches where the branches had been cut. I proceeded to climb up. The nearest branch was aprox 15-20 ft up. I begin to climb..cursing that I hadn't had the sense to change my clothes but lucky I did change my shoes when I returned home from work. I was wearing a long skirt (fortunately I had tights) and boots. I reach the branch and what can only be described as an ariel acrobat swing I boosted myself up the rest of the tree and began to climb aprox another 15-20 ft up. I shake the branch that had the cane and down it comes. The muscular guy in the meantime has also climbed his tree and is astounded to see me far above him..How the #@% did you get up there?, he says to me. Merlin is doing his head tilting ...Mom? Mom? what are you doing? I begin my decent.

The ladies are waiting for me at the bottom of the tree..all pat my back..Whaddawoman!! they exclaim...hee hee. In the meantime I can only imagine what the drivers whom were all slowing down as there is a rather busy road next to the dog park were thinking seeing people climbing trees. It's one of those events that causes you to chuckle and I'm almost sure that when the rest of Merlin's friends arrived he talked about "his mom's antics".

That's so funny. To bad someone didn't have a camcorder. I bet that was some feat trying to climb that tree in a long skirt.
haha between this and climbing over the fence and through the window at the house, id say youre quite a gymnast!
I'm thinking now with three dogs whom I take individually on daily walks I've developed really strong leg muscles..and my arms? Always not as strong, have developed big muscles too from pulling leashes..especially the times I've attemped Merlin and Panda..it's like pulling on the reins of horses..whoah...heel. I also specialize in comedy magic and I think it's now starting to carry over into my real life! Ha Ha!
