Sheepie kisses to your boy from us. |
Thats great news. Parvo doesnt have to be a death sentance on dogs and puppys. My little dog bitza had parvo as a pup and she came through it just fine. But it is a horrible thing to go through. |

I've frequently heard that puppies with Parvo die most of the times, but it just shows that you should never give up!!!! |
I have been catching up on your posts about Toby, and want to join in by saying I am very happy to hear this good news! All the advice from previous threads about keeping him isolated from other dogs for a while is great advice, and of course, doing what the vet recommends.
My Guinevere came into our lives when she was less than 4 months old. She was listless and very un-puppy like from the moment we brought her home. She was diagnosed with Parvo due to circumstances that I will not go into gory details on - suffice to say that I have since learned a great deal from the wonderful "sheepie people" at NEOESR and on this forum. I immediately took her to the vet and was also told that this horrible disease strikes quickly and the odds of survival are not very good. But I was totally committed to her - even though she had been with us a total of less than 24 hours. The road to recovery was very rough and tentative. My vet is wonderful, but even he was very realistic about her chances of survival. But I sat with her everyday, before and after work. Wore a gown and gloves and walked through bleach to make sure that I did not contaminate the surroundings. I told her that we were going to have many, many years together, and that I was going to do everything in my power to keep her here with me. Even the vet was amazed at her recovery. Today she is a happy, healthy 5 year old puppy who is absolutely all sheepie! I know that this is not the norm, and that you do have to prepare for the worst and hope for the best in these situations. But I do hope that anyone who reads the thread about Toby will find that Parvo can be beaten under the right circumstances, the right care and early treatment. And more importantly - PREVENTED with the proper vaccinations to my understanding. I send much white light and good wishes to your little one, and hope that you too will find many years of fun and frolic with your sheepie Toby! Cheers! Guinevere's Dad, Kevin Zimmerman |
Fantastic story Kevin! I admire your commitment and devotion to help nurse your puppy back to health. And I am so glad there was such a wonderful outcome.
What a happy beautiful sheepie in your avatar. Is that Guinevere? |
Yes, Valerie that is my Guinevere! She was a bit younger then, but still looks about the same now at 5. Your sheepies are wonderful! Love your pics! |
