Basil http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/dis ... id=6598293 Minnesota Old English Sheepdog Rescue Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN 952-831-5415 nancyhakala@aol.com Size: Extra Large Age: Adult Sex: Male ID: #84 - basil Notes: Basil is a 4 yr. old gentle giant. He was an 'owner turn-in' to the Humane Society as he "grew too large" for his family. He found his way to MOESR when a behaviorist from the HS diagnosed him with depression from being in the kennel away from his people. Entering his foster home not feeling his best he was still a very good boy. Basil came to foster care with kennel cough which was treated with antibiotics and cough medication. Basil also had a bilateral eye infection which is clearing up nicely with medication and TLC. The first two photos were taken at the shelter who was so very kind to groom Basil into a very nice summer cut due to matting. The 3rd photo was taken in his yard at his foster home. Basil traveled to Minnesota where once in his foster home he blossomed back into the happy OES he was prior to surrender. Basil is good with well socialized dogs, cats and teens. He likes to lay his head in one's lap for petting. He is house-trained, loves to go for car rides, walks well on lead, sits nicely for treats, loves to play ball and frisbee, and just be around people doing anything they are. He can be found on the side lines of a lacrosse game soaking up attention while laying down watching the game. Basil snuck into bed with his foster mom and she states that he was "a cuddle bug who politely moves out of the way when a human turns over". However, his foster mom will not allow fosters to sleep in one's bed to be a habit as his new family may prefer dogs to stay *off* the furniture. Basil responds well to the "off" command. Basil is not happy when his foster mom leaves and will cry while she is away until he decides that napping might be a good idea. This should improve as he grows to trust that she will always come back shortly as his foster mom works from her home. He is a very nice, well socialized, happy go lucky big boy. We prefer he go home with someone who is home most of the day and who has a large fenced in area for him to play with his people. If interested in Basil, please fill out an adoption application found here: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/dis ... id=5201661 This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered. |

You suppose Mike would notice if he came home and there was an "extra" sheepie in the house??? What a cutie. If we were looking for an extra pupper right now... |
I just have to wonder what size these people thought their dog was going to be? I know sheepies have quite a different range in sizes, but when I think sheepie, I think big...
My own Barney was given up by his previous owners because he was too big...and he was only 5 months old! |
That is the sad part isn't it? They see a cute little ball of black and white fluff and don't realise that little midget grows and grows into a big strong dog.
I hope basil finds a furever home soon. |
