She still has that cough. Not as bad as it was but if she starts running around. She starts right back up with the coughing. We were suppose to start puppy obedience class this Thurs, but she can't go if she is still coughing. Anybody ran up against a cough that won't go away? |

Panda's kennel cough went away after about 10 days...she was on clavomax too....just try not to get London too excited....yeah I know, right?! I think it takes a while for the meds to kick in, but she should be fine in a few days... |
i heard that some dogs always have the cough once they had kennel cough.Dont know if it is true. When bear had it she was lucky and only had it a few days.Once the meds kicked in. Hope london feels better soon. |
Antibiotics (clavamox etc) don't actually do anything for kennel cough, most vets just give it as a preventative so it doesn't turn into a bacterial pneumonia.
Kennel cough is a virus (bordatella) so there is nothing that can make it go away any faster, it's just a matter of letting it runs it's course, just like the human cold. Just make sure she drinks lots of fluids, and try to make her rest more. |
It is my understanding that kennel cough is viral (as Stacey said) and that it can be of long duration. The cough can linger for weeks. |
Hello Wynette,
How is the coughing? Have you spoken to your vet since?? Kennel cough can last for a few weeks, and it can also be fatal, so please check into that. London is a cutie pie! Best of Luck |
We are a 3 sheepie household and they are all 100% healthy. It took London almost 3 weeks to get over it with the antibiotics and the cough tablets.
Thanks for asking and being concerned!!!! |
Glad she is better! |
