I had the chicken pox naturally and he ordered a blood test to confirm that. But the measles/rubella vaccination kids get, I never did. So now I face the the "possiblity" of being pregnant, being exposed, and risking a chance of birth defects, such as being deaf, blind, or worse misscarriage, still births. So to be safe, I decided it is a simple thing to do, I am having the shot on Monday...BUT no getting pregnant for 30 days. He also said that now that it is summer I face a wait of a few months. During July/August the surgery wait list is cut to 40%...they only take emergancies, then life saving surgery such as all cancer surgeries, and then elective surgeries come last. Doctor's take their vacations during the summer...sigh. Good news tho, he is getting on it right away, and will fit me in asap. I will be called with the date, and I should start trying after asap...as soon as I feel up to it. It will be done laproscopy..unless once they get inside and decide to open me up instead. My obgyn removed 1 cm of my tube length...he was very happy about that...I should have plenty to recconect....average length is 7-8 cm, and the min amount one needs is 4 cm to get pregnant. And I came up with 2 new girl names, Emerson (can shorten to Em, or Emmy), as well as Teyla or Teylah. Emerson also works for a boy, but I like it better for a girl. Hubby doesn't like Hannah, sorry everyone who voted for that name. we are getting closer |

Wow, you must be so excited! I'm glad everything looks good... I have to say I am TOTALLY shocked and amazed that you never had any vaccinations!!!
Why didn't you? They have been mandatory for all babies in Canada for so long.... I've never even heard of anyone who wasn't vaccinated! |
Yeah I know, I am almost 34.
Small town born in SK, parents divorced when I was 2-ish...and alot of that was spent in a logging camp...so I suppose taking me to a dr wasn't a priority. When I was in school they were doing a routine vaccine, the one that leaves the mark on your arm...anyways they called my name, asked me 1 unrelated question, and sent me on my way...NO vaccine, no answer either why. Perhaps I didn't have a permission slip or something, very strange. Everyone else got it. But my dr took a blood sample and checked for everything, and I show zero antibodies against measles/rubella...meaning I've never been vaccinated. I might give my mom a call and find out for sure...we don't have a relationship but I can contact her for stuff like this. |
That is weird that you didn't have an Vaccines.
Good Luck with everything. I hope it turns out the way you want. |
Good luck with everything. Love the name Emerson and Emma.
Doesn't like Hannah? From HANNAH'S MOM Maybe you should show him all of the cute Hannah's |
That's good news that everything is a go.
I love the name Emma. |
Wow! I'm sorry for the delay, but you're definitely better off getting the vaccination. I didn't think they let that sorta stuff go anymore. hope all goes well, and they get you on that schedule soon!!! |
Well I called my mom, she said when I was baby I was so sick they couldn't do the vaccinations at the time. Apparantly I was allergic to just about everything...they took me to Saskatoon and I went through the prick test, and had pages and pages of allergies. But the dr said I would most likely outgrow them.
And I did, I have no allergies at this time. Anyways she said my dad should know, because either he had to take care of it, or my grandmother (his mom) took me in. But she has passed away, so has my grandfather...when we cleaned out the house I never came across anything like that, and we all went through every paper in the house. My dad is a hard person to get ahold of, so it looks like I will assume it never happened, and believe the bloodwork. I have had blood taken so many times...but not injections...except for dental and rh-neg shot...I am a wuss. We wouldn't call her Emma, it would be Emerson...and shorten to simple M...or Emmy. Emma and Emily are used alot, and I like unique. I am actually liking Teyla more and more. The character on StarGate Atlantis is called this...and I thought it was cool. I had Taya picked for a long time, but this is easier to spell...phonetically. |
Did you have that rh-neg shot after your miscarriage? That is REALLY important. |
Yes I did...literally a pain in the butt...LOL |
I was worried about that after my M/C as I'd never had my blood type done, and there was a possibility I could be O neg... turns out I'm A pos instead The less shots the better!!!! |
It's a complicated thing being O neg, and both my kids are positive. So that's a good thing for Madelyn's future.
But if I didn't get the shot I could give birth to a baby with severe jaundice. Or miscarry again, and again because my blood wants to kill the baby...it thinks it is a foreign bad thing so attacks, as if it was cancerous. The rh shot is to neutralize any antibodies, and give the mom a clean slate to try again. |
Strange that you never had vaccinations... It's mandatory for kids in Mexico here too.
Good luck with everything! Love the name Emma, BTW. |
Lots of people are allergic to components of the vaccine or have had a reaction to the vaccine and can't have it.
A letter from the doctor will exempt you from the immunization requirement in school. However, in the event of outbreak of the disease for which you didn't get immunized occurs, there are laws that can prevent you from attendimg school and other publiv eventd. |
