Okay, NOW where can I hide my bone?

Drez is at it again!! A few weeks ago she tried yet again to hide a bone (biscuit) in a large floor plant, but Dale caught her in time. So we moved the plant to on top of the dry sink in the dining room and rearranged a few other things.

I put two 6" potted poinsettias on the bottom shelf of a corner plant stand, thinking they would be safe there. WRONG!!! Last week Dale heard her wrutching (is there such a word, and did I spell it right?) around in the dining room again, went in and didn't notice the poinsettia plants but saw her trying to hide her bone in the quoit box!! A few days later when I went to water the poinsettias, I noticed one was totally pulled out of the dirt and laying on its side in the pot!! Then I saw the telltale signs of little pieces of dirt on the floor under the pots. She tried to hide her bone in there before heading for the quoit box!!

We just can't figure out what's getting into her lately, with all this bone hiding. She has NEVER not eaten a bone. What a character!! Wish I could read what's going on in that little mind of hers! :lmt:

Drezzie is a doll of course... I love Drez stories :)

What the heck is a quoit box? 8O
Oops! Sorry, didn't remember that the game of quoits is not all that well known.

In quoits, you have two large slate squares that have circles etched into them from the outside in, spaced about 2" apart. In the middle is a stainless steel peg. The back of the quoit board is supported about 4" high with a board, so that the squares are on an angle on the ground. The actual quoit is just a rubber ring, about 6" around, with a hole in the middle. The actual rubber is about 2" thick, the hole is about 4". In the game, you place the 2 quoit boards 20' apart, stand on the outsides of the boards and throw the quoit to the other board, with the object being to land the quoit on the peg, or on the board. Points are given to whomever is closest to the peg or whomever gets a "ringer."

If I remember, I'll take a picture of the set and post it.
Silly Drez! Such a funny girl...
Cool, sounds interesting!

Thanks, Susan!! I would have never guessed it would be on the 'net. Saves me the trouble of taking the pictures, plus these are much nicer!
Kinda like horseshoes, but not.
Neat 8)
Drez is nothing if not persistent! I like a girl with "can do" attitude.

I've always heard that poinsettias are poisionous...and not to have them within reach of dogs. Anyone confirm that for me? or deny? I'd love to have some in the house during holiday time but ????

We have cookie hiders here. Everyone gets two cookies at bedtime. Jeff eats one and saves the other under his blanket for the morning while he waits to be let out. Then after potty Farouk and Dawnie go down to see if anyone has left cookies in their beds from the night before. The word cookie has deep meaning for our gang. It is very motivational.

Well, Drez, I'm sorry that mom and dad can't seem to keep their hands off your cookie vaults. Keep trying to train them....I'm sure that they will learn sooner or later. Patience. Us two footers are sometimes very dense.
poinsettias are poisionous but only in large quantities. A small child would have to eat pounds of them just to have a belly ache. I suppose for small animals like chipmunks it could be dangerous but other than that they are okay. Big misconception with those plants everywhere.

source: I studied horticulture for 2 yrs :)
poinsettias are not lethal, but the sap will burn soft tissues in the mouth and throat. Thus the chewer could have anything from a minor to severe reaction, the later causing breathing difficulties.

Go ahead and have the poinsettias but forgo the giant floor specimens least the boy try to make the pot another ossuary.

"cookie" has great meaning here........thankfully......sometimes we need a good motivator.
