But his old ladys into modelin, she cant get away from a phone Besides she bitches about the mosquitoes She says, down there there is nothing to do Her goddamn phone never stops ringin Hell try the service in a day maybe two Well hes on his third drink before the wheels of the plane leave the ground Makin points with the stewardess high over long island sound Shes also spending some time on the island Too much city madness gives her the blues They make a date to go dancin and dinin It seems neither has that much to lose The weather is here I wish you were beautiful My thoughts arent too clear but dont run away My girlfriends a bore, my job is too dutiful Hell nobodys perfect would you like to play? I feel together today Well now thats just the start of a well-deserved overdue binge Meanwhile back in the city certain people are starting to cringe His lawyers are calling his parents His girlfriend doesnt know what to think His partners are studying their options Hes just singin and orderin drinks The weather is here I wish you were beautiful The skies are too clear lifes so easy today The beer is too cold, the daiquiris too fruitiful No place like home when youre this far away I dont care what they say (I dont care) Hes goin back to new york pack it up and let everyone know It was something that he should have done such a long time ago Still time to start a new life in the palm trees Ah, billy clyde wasnt insane And if it doesnt work out therell never be any doubt That the pleasure was worth all the pain The weather is here I wish you were beautiful The skies are too clear lifes so easy today The beer is too cold, the daiquiris too fruitiful No place like home when youre this far away Time for to play I need time for to play i love buffet. |

Hi Ed |
it's a great song, a funny one as well. |
Love it!
Been to many shows? I've been to about 10... |
Definitely a classic. I have dreams of packing it up and relocating under a palm tree... |
I'm still thinking about it.......................... |
I'm still wishing I was in margaritaville.... |

I'm still thinking about it.......................... You're not alone, Ginny. I never really understood the allure of Jimmy Buffet... |
You're kidding right? How can you not love a man whose songs can mentally transport you to the sandy beach, sitting under an umbrella, watching the waves roll in, drinking the worlds best ...(choose your own fruity drink naughty or otherwise) enjoying a little slice of paradise? Take me away, Jimmy! |

Jimmy Buffett seemed to be enjoyed by the stoners in my high school |
stoners? hmm...seems like too fast of a beat in many of his songs for stoners to enjoy.
My girlfriends and I and mostly the water polo/surfer crowd was into him at my high school and college... |
I do like Jimmy Buffett, I don't consider myself a "parrott head" however I do enjoy his tunes.....although I do think he needs to start CONSIDERING the graceful aging process. Last time I saw him on TV he was looking a bit past his prime. I've read his book and listened to most all his music..............."back in the day".
I'm just not sure I "get" the above lyrics completely......................... |
