OES pups in IL

Hi-
I'm new to the forum, my husband and I are looking for an OES pup (we are in IL of course). I saw one ad and went to see the pup, but we were nervous, because the woman said she was selling the pup for a friend and we thought she might be product of puppy mill.

Now I'm more concerned after reading sleepymom's posts about a not so reputable breeder. But I wasn't able to follow the whole conversation.

Any help any of you have about good/not so good breeders in the area would be most appreciated. I'm feeling like Grace in MN, there doesn't seem to be many breeders in the area and I'd like to find one soon (since I'm currently at home and have time to train a little one).

Thanks again, I'm sure I'll be visting for more advice as we continue our search.

Pocha!

I applaud you and your husband for being able to walk away from that situation! It takes a lot of strength to be able to do that and I admire you for it! (where's the clapping hands emoticon? :) )

On Friday I talked with a breeder from MICH. I got her number from the OESCA. I can give you her name and number. She's a wealth of great information and we talked for over an hour and a half! She can give you names of numbers of people in your area who have her pups, or who have pups of other OESCA members who breed.

She also gave me a list of other reputable breeders in MN and WI - although not all are breeding at this time. (Some are expecting pups as soon as May though!)

I have a name and number of a contact person in Wilmette, Ill. if you haven't spoken with her already. I'm not sure how far Wilmette is from you, but it has to be closer than MO! I can give it to you if you'd like.

It's so hard to wait to get a pup, but I think it's worth the wait! :) Along with the knowledge of how horrible puppy mills, brokers, etc. are comes a certain responsibility to try do what we can to end the cycle ::sigh:: It's d@mn hard when you see all those little faces and want to rescue them all!

There are a couple of excellent breeders in MI , and a reputable breeder even if too far away, or that doesn't have pups at the time, would be able to give you names and numbers of breeders closer to you who might have pups. It's worth the wait and patience to make sure you get a happy, healthy pup!
Yes I did get the phone 3's from OESCA for breeders in WIand am contacting them. But yes, if anyone can give me the breeders in MI, I will check them out as well.

Thanks again!

Sue
Oh, please send me the names of the breeders in Michigan, too. I'm in Michigan and have been contemplating adding an OES to my fur-family.

Hi! Just curious - where in Michigan do you live? I have a brother and sister-in-law who breed Welsh Springer Spaniels. They live outside Ann Arbor. They have several dogs who have won high honors in shows across the U.S. He's a vet and gives me lots of "free advice" (hey - what are brothers for??). Visit their web site when you have time - even though they aren't sheepies, they are great dogs!

I'm from Michigan and would love to have the names of reputable breeders if you could share. I am new to the OES family, but really want a dog (or even to rescue one if you know good shelters). Thanks for any information, and hopefully I'll be able to post the good news of an addition to my life soon!
