I was wondering how working pet parents have dealt with puppy playpens, crates, housebreaking, etc. Should I put a crate in a pen and leave the door open with a training pad on the far side of the pen while I'm at work? Should I just leave him in the crate and hope he holds it for 4-5 hours? I know that some people find crate-training to be cruel, but please don't feel obligated to light into me at this point. I don't even have the little guy yet. =) |

Hi Welcome and congratulations on your new sheepie coming home soon, love the name.
There is a whole section on this forum for crate training. So plenty to read on that aspect & plenty of people to answer any questions you have on using a crate or puppy pen. Nothing wrong with crate training them as it is a safe place for them to be when you are not there. Good luck with your new sheepie and can't wait to see pictures. |
Hi and welcome!! I am also getting a pup soon, and we will be crate training. There are many members on here with some great advice about crate training and I'm sure you'll hear from them. In the meantime, go to the main index and click on the "Crate training" section or click on this link: http://forum.oes.org/viewforum.php?f=25 There is a lot of information here which may help you! Can't wait to see pics!!!

Welcome to the forum! |
Hey that's great! Welcome to the forum!
7 weeks is still pretty young... Any chance the breeder can hang on to your puppy for anohter week at least maybe two? Then again, I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just parroting what others have said. Either way, I'm looking forward to hearing your tales of puppy ownership and, of course, pictures! |
