though she did bark at the passers by... she got so she never barked as much near the end of the weekend. She was well liked.. we took her for walks and many children and grown-ups stopped us to look/pat her and ask us about her...many said they had never seen one in person before... she certainly got lots of attention... she was good with people when they wanted to pat her and so on.. the only problem she had was people walking by our trailer... protecting us I think is all.... anyway we had fun.... and we were pleased with her first camping trip... |

Sheepies sure have a way of attracting attention wherever they go! We just got back from the beach and Nelson absolutely loves everyone. Kids were running up to him from all directions and petting him. We had to keep telling them how to approach a dog properly as not all dogs tolerate such attention. And the adults! All they want to know is how much they cost, do they shed and do they eat a lot. (a lot, a lot and a lot; no point in encouraging such people) Now that we're back home Nelson wants to know where all his "fans" are. He is such a social boy! Good thing we're going back again in August. |
How wonderful that Sasha is getting out and about and spending some recreational time with her family! Her cousin, Dixie, is enjoying her summer, too.
Much better life than last summer's I'm sure! |
Yes that is true they have got to be having a better summer this year... then they had last... she certainly does not seem to mind the attention she gets. And yes people do ask those 3 questions.. haha I tell them yes they do cost alot and they will eat alot, though we have no shedding really with Sasha.. but I always tell them every animal has some... she is very good though... you would never know there is a dog in the house.. not from hair anyway.... she did very well with kids running up to her as well we just told her to sit and she did.... the kids LOVED her... they were all saying "Look at the big fluffy dog." or "Look at the big doggie." One little girl said "Hi puppy." it was really cute. I like how they all think she is sooo huge there were other dogs at the campground that were bigger then Sasha.. her being a smaller version of the OES bred. I think its the shaggy hair that makes them think she is so big haha... |
Sounds like alot of fun! |
That's great that she did so well on the camping trip.
We took Pepsi to the Grand Canyon last year and camped at a campground on the outskirts of the park. He did great! Except when we tied him out on his leash while we were packing up to leave. He chewed through his leash. He didn't even leave though. Just chewed it off and hung out. |
Good for her!!! I'm so glad she had fun. We used to go camping with our dogs while I grew up - I can't wait to do it with our new one.
I'm sure you got a lot of questions about her! Whenever we get the "do they shed" question we say, "Not too much, but because of it you need to spend hours each day brushing and grooming " . . . But OF COURSE it is well worth the time!!! |
Yeah Sasha!!!! congratulation on your 1st successful camping trip. Sounds like you were the belle of the campground.. as ever sheepie girl should be.
Murphy had his first camping experience this weekend as well... but unlike Sasha, we slept in a tent.. we like to rough it!!!! We went to Fundy National Park.. as I have done for many, many years on Canada Day.. it was wonderful.. we did a lot of hiking, ate alot of lobster... and basically just enjoyed our long weekend. Murphy seemed to like the camping.. he didn't mind sleeping in the tent, he definately loved the hiking... freedom...as usual we got the regular questions.... "what's that?" referring to my Murphy.....we then explain the whole situation with him and the seizure.. etc.. then we get.. "Is that a St. Bernard"????? "Nope... It's a Bernese Mountain Dog...."Is it part St. Bernard"....and on and on and on.... |
