Does anyone here in the Detroit area dog sit? Or Gaylord? We cannot take our girls on vacation with us We will be going to Gaylord MI July 22-29. I am considering not going at all but if I could find someone to watch them I would go for the first 3 days. Any suggestions? Thanks, Laurie P.S. Jaci, my husband said to just drop them off at your home, with 6 of your own you wouldn't even notice 2 more |

Hi Laurie!
Don't you dare tell him this but he might be right Gads... 8 dogs and all females?? Makes me shuddler just thinkin' about it There IS a boarding facility that was recommended by our "humane" trainer but it's located in Lake Leelanau which is about 90 miles from Gaylord but only about 18 miles from Christine if you're heading over this way too. Below is what I relayed to another person in need of a sheepie babysitter. Sorry... just copying and pasting... I'm getting lazy Hugs and hiney scratches to Emmie and Bella. Jaci This is the kennel he recommends and it's in Lake Leelanau... Noah's Ark Pet Care Center Owners- Don & Beth Szilagyi 1850 S. Schomberg Road Lake Leelanau, Michigan Phone- 231-256-6624 http://www.leelanauchamber.com/cgi-bin/ ... _records=1 Sam says they are very nice people. He said it's more of a home setting that's clean and intimate, on a side street, and they can keep up to 15 dogs. I believe he said she is a vet tech or assistant (for a Dr. Morrison or Harrison?) which is also a plus. Sam has worked with one of their dogs in the past... his students have used this couple's boarding services and have always been pleased. He said that his clients said their dogs were less stressed than when staying in a kennel in a more commercial setting. |
My doggy day care girl also boards and I think it's in her home. Here's the website: http://www.detroitdogdaycare.com/ The owner's name is Liz and she's very nice. You could give her a call and ask
Actually, now that I think about it, so do my poop scoop people and they're very sweet. They do keep the dogs right in their homes for sure (provided they get along well with their dogs). www.doggiescoops.com Their names are Marianne and Tim. Also, Laurie, ask Jil. There's place that she takes Kayli when she goes away that's right in the girl's home. I know her name is Michelle and it isn't too far from where Jil lives but that's all I know. Hope that helps and if you have any questions abut either of the two that I can answer, I'd be glad to help. By the way, I already asked James if we could keep them for a few days. He asked me if I was insane and walked out of the room! |

Hi JIll,
Thanks for the info. We are planning on meeting the poop scoop people at the end of the week. Hopefully they will all get along I've never left them before, I'm still not sure I will but if I do the poop scoop people sound great. Thanks a bunch Laurie |
Laurie, check with your vet, most of them do boarding. The only place I know of up this way is in Elk Rapids, but that's pretty far from Gaylord. |
Cool! Let me know how it goes. |
