Panda's back legs shake when she is really excited..at that point, unless she is playing with Bailey, I make her lay down too and calm down. |
walters legs shake periodically, it never concerned me too much so i hope its not an indication of a bigger problem |
Leg shaking is pretty common. In younger dogs it is excitement, in older dogs is it muscle degredation or nerve problems from age. However, if the shaking is bad and other health problems are at hand, don't delay in getting a diagnosis. Epilepsy, distemper, diabetes, poisoning, and various neurological problems may be at hand. |
Does it seem like it's painful to him? Luke's legs shake all the time but it doesn't bother him at all. |
Lucky has the worse leg tremors that I have ever seen - primarily in his back legs but often in all or 1 leg at a time. We have had him x-rayed and tested to death. Nothing medically wrong. The vet said the only thing he can think of is that it is like a nervous or excited habit. In humans it would be the equivalent of a stutter or shaky hands or a nervous eye twitch. We think he is about 3 1/2 to 4 yrs old so can't tell you what we will find as he gets older. It doesn't cause him pain and it certainly doesn't affect his agility.
Hope this info helps. |
It could be from excitement....it seems to happen most when I'm about to give him a treat or I am eating and he is watching...I just wanted to make sure...and he is a rescue dog so maybe he just spent too much time on the streets...
Ahh I feel better. He is doing really good - he doesn't look like a stray dog anymore...and he is happy....hopping and running around and he gained about 20lbs. He is slowly learning how to play with a stuffed dog toy....that sqeaker in it still freaks him out though...lol. |
