Backing up for tushie rub
 having his tushie rubbed and scratched. If I'm sitting on the floor, he will often backup to me, and get in position, and wait for me to start and when I'm done with him, he sits on my lap, little guy that he is  .This weekend, he started something new. He now backs up to the couch, when I"m sitting on it, so he's in position. BUT! not only does he backup, he lifts his right back paw, and rests it on the couch!!!! OMG! Is it every funny! Do you think he does this for balance? |

That's very funny, Deb! I can totally picture Pirate doing that! I don't think he's lifting his back paw for balance. I think it's a reminder for you to give him a butt rub!  |
Bailey does the SAME THING!!  He backs his butt onto the couch to the point where one or more paws are off the floor. I think he's just making sure that the maximum amount of butt is available for our rubbing convenience  |
| Oh yea...I forgot to mention, when he backs up to the couch, he actually sits on it with his tush, while his front remains standing! |

| Carl does the same thing. He sits on the steps, he sits on the footstool, I think the couch is a little high for him though. |
| All my sheepies have done that more or less. Current ones are somewhat less. However, Sam the Pyr, was a major backer-upper. He'd shift into reverse, back up and then lift that rear leg and sit on your lap! Oh yeah, he'd do it to the couch or footstools too, but was most funny when he'd do it to visiting guests
MO is my current best butt rubbee, but Jack is learning. Glacier the short legged Pyr loves lower back rubs and will sway from side to side in ectasy. I envy you a good butt rubbee. It is fun. susan |
| Ivyrose AKA Pudgebutt (lab) will wedge her head between our knees and do a buttscratch dance when we scratch her hind end. It is so funny. She shifts her weight from back and forth on her back feet. Hannah Rose (OES) is learning about butt scratches and buttscratch dance. She does the same thing with wedging her head between our knees. The best buttscratch dancer was our Pyr Hannah. She would do it if we were scratching or even drying her with a towel she made it an art form. |
