Meal for my girlfriend

I am totally useless at cooking but really want to make my girlfriend a meal for our two year anniversary of being together. She is quite picky about her food and with me being not very good at cooking, im having trouble finding a nice romantic meal idea. Does anyone have any idea what meal i could cook her that is fairly simple to make yet romantic and different to normal food? I really want to make a special meal for her so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Can you give us a little more information?
What is it that she is picky about? Is it how things are prepared? Or certain foods that she does not like.
What kinds of foods does she like?
I'm know we can come up with something for you.
something easy... try pasta! Looks great, easy to prepare, most picky people will eat that. If you want it to look really impressive, sprinkle some dried herbs (parsely is nice and mild) and shredded (not grated) parmesan over the dish.
Yeah, give us a clue what she will or won't eat? Shrimp? Beef? Actually if you look in the frozen food section of a better grocery, you'll find some good starters. Wholesale places like Costco or Sams might also have something interesting.

A special salad would then make up for a premade frozen entree.

Special wine? and a light dessert......fruit based?
Hi all. Thanks for your willing to help.

She is not a great lover of fish and i think she would prefer not to have pasta although it would depend on the type.

i know she likes beef and lamb so any recipes including either of those would be helpful.

Thanks a lot.
What about your basic filet mignon, salad and a baked potato?

or grilled lambchops, salad and garlic mashed potatoes?
does she like pork chops? Just had a great new one and we both loved it.
Bacon wrapped Filet Mignon, with a quarted head of iceberg lettuce, served with blue cheese dressing.

That's how they serve it in one of the most popular restaurants Near Mt. Rushmore in Hill City, SD the Alpin Inn and Restaurant.

...and that's ALL they serve for dinner!
cooks.com has nice recipes. I like the filet with Burgundy sauce.

Twice baked potato is where the potato is first baked, the guts taken out and mashed with butter and cream and (herbs, cheese, etc) and put back into the potato shell and reheated.

Vegetable could be green beans.......fresh of course. Purchase the freshest (make a circle with your index finger and thumb, that's the amount per person. Drop into boiling salted water, cook just a few minutes and then drop into ice water to stop cooking. When ready to serve, melt some butter in a pan, add the green beans, salt and pepper, and a flavoring: lemon, an herb such as basil, etc.

Blue cheese dressing on iceberg wedge is an oldie but goodie, Ron.

Desert could be a berry parfait: in a clear glass goblet, pilsner or champage glass. Alternate macerated strawberries (cut up and sprinkled with sugar and allowed to sit for about 30 minutes--oh, throw in some Amaretto too or Nocelli) with ice cream, vanilla pudding or beaten and sweetened sour cream (I like to sweeten it with brown sugar..yum).

This one is very easy and very yummy.
Do you have a crock pot?
The night before place a nice roast in the crock pot.
Add a large jar of banana pepper rings (mild or medium depending on your taste) and one large onion, just cut into wedges.
Let it cook on low all night.
In the morning, break up the beef and let it cook the rest of the day.
I usually serve it with mashed potatoes, some other side dish and a hearty crusty bread.
That parfait sounds pretty good for desert.
Firstly I can't help with cooking cause I'm useless - but I would say don't do anything too complicated, keep it simple.

Secondly, I'm laughing like mad at your user name "useless-man" - sorry thats hillarious - you'll get the sympathy vote off the ladies though, that I'm sure of.

You'll have to let us all know what you cooked and how the evening went ?

Anyway, whats wrong with a Big Mac and chips, thats special isn't it ?? LOL
Thankyou all of you for your advice and ideas. They are all greatly appreciated and im sure i can use one of them for our special meal.

Thank you again you have saved my life lol.

Much appreciated

Danny.

Tell us! Maybe we can embellish your meal plan!
Well i dont know if this sounds ok but i have sort of mix and matched a couple of ideas off this site. I ran the idea by her mother and she thinks it sounds nice so....

Grilled lamb chops with Twice Baked potato and Some sort of veg that i havent quite decided on. Gotta find out what she likes first lol:).
For dessert im doing handmade chocolate fudge truffels.

What do you think???

I have researched all of this on the net and they all seem within my limits to make so im going to have a practice run on my family tonight and then on saturday i will be doing the meal for her.

wish me luck.

Danny.
Good luck, Danny!

Danny
Well if the handmade chocolate fudge truffles aren't a hit, send them over here! :D
Sounds delicious. Good luck!
Remember to set a pretty table, even if you have to borrow some items. Visual presentation will help offset any disaster in the kitchen.
I vote for takeout!!!
