Brushes for dematting-Les Pooches?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend which les pooches brush is good for a sheepie or any other brush for that matter.

I am desperate. I don't want to shave my poor sheepie bald again (he was just done in March, but he's getting matted again and the groomer is recommending shaving.

Any suggestions?

Michele,

I have a pin rake that I love... that helps for beginning matts. pip's hair is not his adult coat, so it doesn't matt to badly yet, but sometimes he gets into something sticky, or his tummy gets matted, and the pin rake works great!

Here's alink so you can see what one looks like:

This is almost identical to the one I own- it holds up to pip chewing on it, is totally safe (no sharp edges like matt rakes!) and is great for all purpose brushing too. I'll never be without one :)
I had never heard of a Les Poochs brush but here's a link-
http://www.oes.org/page2/2559~Les_Pooches_Brushes.html I read about the blue one on the manufacturer's site- http://lespoochs.com/BreedPooch.asp?PoochID=BP200

I use a mat cutter but the last time I recommended it to someone they cut themselves (I won't mention any names Diane 8) ).

If you work slowly and carefully you can usually avoid a shave down if the mats aren't numerous. If the coat is terribly matted though it's kindest to shave them down and start over again but with more diligent brushings this time around. This is why I keep all of mine in shorter doggie-dos... I'm not very diligent sometimes :?
Hi Michele!

My groomer suggested the Les Pooches brush and I love it.
She felt the small red Les Pooches was fine, its easier to
handle than the large one.

It really goes right through nicely and helps prevent matts.

They are not cheap, but worth it!!!!!! The company has a great
staff too.

Good luck
I just purchased 2 new brushes for Bart - they are "Salon" brand. They are a slicker -style with a wonderfully ergonomic handle. The small has softer, less stiff bristles - great for small, sensive areas. The Medium is a bit larger surface area and stiffer bristles. The great easy to use handle on the small size had me back to buy the 2nd one!

I threw away the package with more info on the company. They are blue and silver colored brushes, and the price wasn't too bad.
I found a great site that explains each Les Poochs brush by coat type & makes choosing easy. It's for another Dog Breed, but I didn't care, the brushes are all the same.

Here's the link: Um, Sorry Charlie, no link for you!

[Editor's note: "doodlecountry.com" is a low life spamming garbage comapny. Why would you want to do business with them?]

I hope everybody finds it as useful as I did.

- Charlie
