Where is he????..I'm so upset I feel frozen as to what to do. Just pray that Merlin will return home. Busy streets are a couple blocks away and I'm terrified about that. Raced down to the Humane Society and no reports of a Sheepdog. Sighing off..going to search the neighborhood. Marianne |

| In the short time that I wrote the first post
I did the following: Went to the Humane Society Went to local pet food stores Called all local vets and left my name and his description (made sure each knew that regardless of the circumstances he was brought in - hate to even think this way..no cost spared..have the go ahead to take all measures if he's injured.) Called my vet Drove around the neighborhood Walked by myself calling his name Took Blue around the neighborhood I'm going to run and get a newspaper (not sure how long he's been missing as just spoke to my son..finally!!! as been calling numerous times..his cell was dead. He too left early this morning. I just remembered he came in the back gate last night and I thought I should check it in the morning to make sure the latch caught..forgot to do that this morning. Stupid stupid me! Merlin has access to the back yard during the day but is usually in the house. I knew something was up immediately as when I unlocked the front door..his big nose is usually pushed through the cat door. I noticed his absence the moment I put the key in the lock. He's never failed to greet me that way. I'm calling in reinforements and will have people searching. Just praying he's safe and I want him home! Bawling my eyes out..what a horrible feeling. Attempted my first grooming job last night ..he's sorta half done..and collar is hanging loose..but he's microchipped. I feel so lost..thanks for all the prayers everyone..will keep you posted. I pounded the pavement and knocked on every single door up and down the streets for blocks..will expand it tomorrow. Numerous people saw him either in front of my house or doors away but after 2:30 no sighting of him. Which means some kind soul tried to help perhaps thinking he'd get hit by a car...or something else. Thanks so much for your prayers and thanks Bosley's mom for those wonderful suggestions..should make a sticky out of that. It's allmost nightfall here and now going to tour the neighborhood with Panda. Can't go to work tomorrow..I'm just worried about him. Marianne |
| I'm exhausted after walking for six hours looking for my boy.
It's now dark outside ,and I'm wondering where he's spending the night. Just like my post says..please let him be safe. I've had to stop for tonight but will keep on searching. Thanks again everyone for being here for me. Marianne |

| Marianne - Merlin and you were the first things I thought of when I woke up this morning. I am so sorry that he is not home yet, but I have every hope that he is going to come home. You must be exhausted. I hope the adrenalin gets you through.
When my cat was lost, as the days went by and I hadn't found him, I was kind of relieved that I hadn't found him because if he'd been injured, I think I would have found him sooner. In my case, a misguided person found him and when she didn't see an missing ad in the paper that same day that same day that she found him, she concluded he was homeless. She never understood that I couldn't cause an ad to appear in the newspaper the very day that he was missing. She also wailed about how she was going to miss him after 5 days or so and got really miffed when I said imagine how I feel, I've had him 10 years. I think sometimes people take a pet home for a few days before they check into whether he already has a home. In my case, it was her neighbors who saw my signs and told me that that girl had my cat. Lucikly with a dog, they have to take it outside for bathroom breaks so someone will see him. Best wishes on today's search. . . Nicole -- could you post your list of suggestions? Where are the Mounties when we need them? Call the police stations and the local dispatch centers. They sometimes get calls for people finding animals. If they blow you off ask to speak to the supervisor and just tell them you want to leave contact info in case someone spots him. Tell the cops because, even if people don't think so, they are everywhere and are quite observant. (P.S. Not too long ago, the police brought Toby home after he snuck out!!!) The neighborhood kids are always good scouts too. Hopefully he just shows up sitting on your porch!! Keep us updated and we'll be hoping!!! |

| Oh no! I'm so sorry Marianne. You must be beside yourself with worry.
Ask someone to print up some very bright colored fliers with a picture of Merlin to put up around town, at the vets and at the petstores. You might also contact your local police department and give fliers to them... often they drive around during the job and might spot him or they might see someone with him. If you're near a city that has a road commission, cable drivers, telephone or gas employees... maybe you can ask that a picture be put up on the employee board. How about the mailman? Hugs and HUGE prayers for Merlin's safe return. |

Have you notified your mailman or the post office, also the paper boy, delivery service driver in your neighborhood?? Our mailman found one of our dogs once! Losing your dog is horrible. |

| Marianne, I hope he comes home soon! Such a sad thing to happen. One time when I was up north traveling, but boyfriend at the time was watching the dogs. He sent me a text saying one of my boys was missing, and he had to go to work (to say the least we are not together anymore). The good thing is that when he got home, the pup was waiting for him at the front door. We have no idea where he went, I think just wandering until he realized he missed me. Keep us informed and my thoughts are with you. |

| I am so sorry Merlin is missing. It was all I could think about all day.
I was so hopeful that he would be home, safe and sound by the time I got home from work. We all are praying for his safe return home....SOON! I wish there was something more I could do.....other than pray. Laurie |

| She's probably not responding because she is busy looking for him. I know I came back a few times to answer some questions that were asked of me but most of my time was either spent worrying or looking.
Don't worry - she'll come back. In the mean-time send good wishes and prayers to the baby who's missing. Merlin has a good chance to be found since he has a microchip and a collar. |
