I've never even heard of a miniature OES.
Do you know of a web site or have any pictures? |
There is no such thing as a Miniature OES, it is not a real breed. Do you mean a different breed that resembles an OES but is smaller? |

They have just been put into there own KC show group in the UK, there name i think is Coton De Tulear. |
Yes, that's what I thought you were referring to, I would love a Coton De Tulear... they are no relation to oes though. The seller just put their ad under oes because the UK does not recognize the coton yet (neither does canada) |
ah, just i hvae seen them refered to as miniture OES a hell of alot |
Jeez... I posted twice and had to pull the posts because the answers have been provided I found more the info about the Coton de Tulear here...
http://www.champdogs.co.uk/breeder/797.html They are cute but just not Old English Sheepdogs. Maybe a good choice for someone who loves OES but can't have "the real thing" because of their size. |
Not a fan of "wary" but they sure are cute!! There is one that comes to my park, though, that is not nearly as cute as though pictures. One of the great things about OES is that they are adorable in every size, shape, and hairstyle (except maybe Chummie's current 'do). |
HAHAHAHA, I thought you were JOKING!!! I was going to ask if Ty counted (he THINKS he's a sheepie)!! Actually the Coton is often referred to on the Maltese Board as a BIG MALTESE , so go figure!!! I see more similarities to the Malt than to the OES....
We know one thing for sure, there is ONLY ONE OES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Wow - it was interesting to read about them! |
My cousin has one of these dogs. I thought it reminded me of a bichon with straight hair or a big maltese. I didn't notice any resemblense to the OES at all.
Especially with the all white coat and size. |
They sure are cute, but I wouldn't change being knocked to the floor by two grey lightinings every time I open the door after coming back from work. |
Another breed that is similar to OES and slightly smaller is a "PONS" - also known as a Polish Lowland Sheepdog. (PONS is the acronym for the Polish name) They are about 40-50#. I met a Coton de Tulear once. It is VERY much like a maltese/bichon. Tiny, yippy thing. It was small (20#) and had nice hair. That's about all it had going for it. Not a breed I'd reccomend, although I probably shouldn't base my evaulation of a whole breed on one dog. Then again, I don't like yippy dogs, and I suspect that with lots of good and careful training, it can be avoided in some of these typically yippy breeds. Some people think that you don't have to train your tiny dog (my mum is one of these, and thus her yorkie mix is one of the yippy variety) ~Katie. |
