Movie you want to see

What movie is out or is coming out that you really want to see and why?

I really want to see DaVinci code, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed after reading the book. It also annoys me that they didn't make a movie of Angels and Demons first LOL

Hey, Mom & I saw DaVinci a couple weeks ago and we both liked it. Tom Hanks wasn't bad, which surprised me only because he wasn't what I had pictured.
I usually wait until the movie is out on dvd, :? , that way I’m not depending on a sitter, so I’m waiting on broke Back Mountain
I would love to see The Da Vinci Code. But since both Hubby & I HATE going to the movie theater, we will be waiting until it's on DVD.
I haven't read the book. I will wait until after I see the movie to read it and see what I missed. :)

I think in most cases if you see the movie before reading the book you'll enjoy the movie more. In my opinion the books are always better, and then the movie leaves me disappointed.

I agree. When I read a book I always picture the characters and places as I want them. Then when they make a movie it never matches my imagination. It isn't too bad if it is a long time between reading the book and then seeing the movie...my memory has usually faded by then.
In the case of the DaVince Code, I liked the movie, but not necessarily better. That is one film where all the visuals help. When you read the book, you picture the places, but in most cases, they are REAL places, so I liked the fact that I could see the story in its true context.

Also, Ian McClellan did an EXCELLENT Job. Nice to see him as someone other than Gandalf!

I think, in this case, the movie really helps if you haven't already been to all the places in the book. I had been to most of the places but James hadn't so he liked having it to match up to. They stuck to the book pretty close so I really didn't feel cheated, which is rare because I get really annoyed when they change stories around for visual sake. I know they have to, but I hate it nonetheless.

I agree. I think Ian McKellan was the best part of the movie.
Next movie we go to will be "Cars"...the cartoon. It will be the kids gift, and a trip to Chucky Cheese for passing their grades.

I haven't been able to rent a movie for awhile, and still want to see Flightplan, with Jodie Foster.
We rarely go to the movies as we prefer to buy the DVDs when they come out. If I need to go to the restroom - that pause button is great and I don't miss a thing.
I'm waiting for "AMBULANCE GIRL" to come to pay-per-view on DISH, I'm a Kathy Bates fan.
I saw the Davinci Code and loved it. I'm rereading the book again. I want to see the Breakup and Click.
I usually buy movies since I'm too lazy to return them 8O But I did rent Mr. and Mrs. Smith....it was terrible. Having never seen an Angelina Jolie movie before I was curious if she could act, she can't, at least in this one. Brad Pitt wasn't very good either and I liked him in Troy and Seven.
I actually liked Mr. and Mrs. Smith. We just saw it last weekend. I had heard terrible reviews about it so I didn't want to see it, but it was surprisingly cute. I guess maybe because I only had bad expectations...

Exactly. I found it to be a great bad movie. Very predictable, pretty corny dialogue in some parts, but fun to watch.
I enjoyed Mr and Mrs Smith because it was so silly. All cartoon violence and like was said so predictable. It was hysterical. Pink Panther is also good. I couldn't imagine Steve Martin as Inspector Clouseau, but he did a good job. It too is a silly fun movie.

Is anybody going to see Prairie Home Companion? Coming from MN (where the real PHC radio show is based) and being a member of Minnesota Public Radio (Yay MPR!!!) this is a very big thing up here. We haven't had any $$ to see a movie, but I really want to go see it!

Wondering if there are any other PHC fans on the board???
My brother and dad like Prairie Home Companion and Garrison Keiler. They listen to his radio show on NPR on weekends. I think it's because my brother went to college in MN...My brother tries to claim that I'm a Minnesotan because I was born there, but I claim CA as my home...
We are Netflix DVD watchers. Nice to have the movies waiting for us right on top of the TV. Also having the huge selection means we see movies we'd never find in the stores.

We saw Cars, it was cute.

Jason is wanting to see The Omen...we'll probably see that one next weekend, if we can get a babysitter.

We're going to see Superman Returns when it's released to see if the boys can watch it. They'll be in soccer camp all that week, so we can get away during that time - maybe. If it's not bad, we'll take them to see it at the weekend matinee since they are both obsessed with superheroes.
My sister & Mother took Ryan to see Over The Hedge a few weeks back.
They said it was really cute.
