Breaking the Ice on a Hot Day!
This happened over the weekend..sis was visiting and accompanied me deep in the woods where I often take my three dogs. I choose this particular place when I want all three to get the chance to be offleash. In years I've only run across people a few times. This particular forest is a training center for forestry students and has purposely been left untouched in the heart of the city which seems a bit unusual. Most that visit it walk the trails and that area is usually heavily populated. I always go into the dense bush and never worry as I have all three dogs. Sister and I are walking and we hear loud voices..very noisy..we emerge from the dense forest to a clearing. We see a HUGE GROUP of young men standing on a bridge (same one we have to cross). They look up and stare...we look down and stare. At this point it could have been a bit intimidating but suddenly there is burst of laughter from the young guys. Merlin has emerged from the forest looking rather "manly" in his Pebbles Flinstones type of hair do. I hear hey it's Tim Allens dog!! and comments as to his hair. More laughter..we laugh too. Merlin appears embarressed but he broke the ice as what had seemed like an uncomfortable situation. All the young guys parted and made a wide berth for us as we crossed the bridge..Merlin, Me, Panda, Sister and Blue. On our return I hear them say...hey here come the ladies again..guys lets move this stuff out of the way for them (in this case their cases of beer..lol) They smile and wave..we smile back and walk in the midst of them..and unanimously they say bye ladies. | That's wonderful. I always feel safer when I have Allie with me. Not that she is aggressive but just people are intimidated by her size I think. |
