That is very sad thing to hear, Do people just not care to look for their dogs? |
Thanks Elissa for letting me know.
They moved the video to here and then scroll down to 6/2/06 http://www.2theadvocate.com/wbrz/videos |
I talked to a lady at the shelter today. I asked if there were any sheepies and she said no. But she did say to fax them a flyer with contact name and number and they would put it in their contact information just in case they came across any sheepies.
Does anyone know, do I make up a flyer or does one of the sheepie rescue groups fax them and put my name and number on it or how it works? I don't want to do the wrong thing. |
That's too bad, I know when it first happened our city spca went and helped. They came home with a few dogs and after awhile of waiting for owners to contact, they adopted them out. Of course they couldn't bring more than they could handle. |
That's so sad, I can't imagine how those poor dogs feel I do know a large number were brought to Michigan and found new homes |
I think it would be best to first contact every OES rescue that is known to work in your area and ask them how to handle it. Ask if they are willing to consider rescuing a sheepie if he/she shows up at your local shelter. Most will need to determine the temperament of the dog first. But I'm sure they would love the help of anyone who they can count on to follow through and is willing to lend a hand.
Holly's right... I visited the website of a rescue in our area earlier today and "Uncle Bill" the old hound-dog and Atticus the boxer-mix, both Katrina dogs, are still awaiting permanent homes to call their own. It's been a long wait for them. |
