Water and Food Bowls

It's time to replace her Tupperware bowls and buy some "fancy" food and water bowls for Saffy (who is smallish at 8 months and 40 pounds). Do you recommend any particular type of bowl? Metal? Ceramic? Plastic? Are the ones on little stands better for OES's?

Does it really matter to her...
Thanks,
Aurelie

We have the elevated food & water holders and we use metal dishes for the food & water. When they get totally nasty I just throw them in the dishwasher to get them clean again. I think it may be just a matter of your preference.
Stainless steel is best in my opinion, more sanitary, cannot get little plastic things hanging off that can scratch their nose, and easier to wash.
I also use stainless steel (2 qt size) in an elevated feeder.
We have stainless steel and ceramic. Bear and Lucy share an elevated stand with stainless and Clyde has his own fancy elevated feeder (since he'll only eat in the living room, I bought one to match!) with ceramic. I don't mind the ceramic ones the way they sit in the feeder but I wouldn't want ceramic on the floor.
I use stainless steel bowls for both of my OES.
Rags has a regular elevated metal stand.
Pepsi has this one from Petsmart: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_ ... 25831&Ne=2
I use stainless for both food and water. I bought four cute elevated dishes which they refuse to use, they are afraid of them
They have cute puppy printed ceramic dishes. :)
What timing. I was going to post today about raised bowls. I've been wondering if we should start using one for Mojo.

I use a stainless food bowl and a plastic water bowl.
I tried a stainless water bowl but, Mojo kept barking at the sheepie in the bottom! Don't know why he doesn't do it with the food bowl.

Why doesn't this surprise me???? Animals are so goofy. Bob is afraid of a piece of paper fluttering by, but the tractor pulling a hay wagon 2 feet from him doesn't bother him. Go figure.

What do they look like? I could use one more so everyone has their own.
We have had to resort to Ceraminc- the Aluminum is too light and Chipper has too much fun knocking them over with his huge paws!!!
We use stainless steel...not elevated but in holders so she can't tip anything over. Can't chew them, and can't break them, and so easy to clean.
we use one of these for walters water gallon water bowl because he used to wake us up at 2am by rolling his ceramic bowl all over the tile floor.
Plastic bowls can contribute to "snow nose" where the black pigment on the nose is lost due to fungi and bacteria.
Don't you just love this forum? I sure do. Thanks for all the guidance and all the smiles from those funny images - sheepies afraid of bowls, rolling a ceramic bowl at 2 AM, having a bowl that matches the living room cuz that's where he likes to eat... too cute. Thanks all.

LMAO...TOO FUNNY!!! :D :D :D

We use stainless bowls in the same plastic elevated stand that Pepsi's Mom has. Three overturned 3 gallon water dishes were enough with the metal stand. I had to control myself from laughing once when I woke up in the morning and Steve, Annie, bowl and the STOVE were standing in the middle of the kitchen. Somehow the water missed most of the floor and gravitated beneath the stove 8O
We have stainless bowls for the food and water, shame the dogs still perfer to drink out of the pond :(
