Anyone know a medical reason a dog would get a Drippy Nose?

Does anyone know of a medical reason that a dog would get excessively "snotty" at certain times?

Walter's nose seems to produce a very thin, almost watery um...snot (i don't know what else to call it) but only when we ride in the car. Normal times, he's fine, but even after only a few minutes in the car, his nose starts running.

I don't imagine it's anything to be alarmed about, but I suppose I'm just curious. Cooling mechanism? Nervous tic?

That's probably just stress or the temperature of the car if it is only when he goes in the car.
We call it nose juice down here. It is a cooling mechanism for the dog. Due to the heat in Louisiana we have 2 sheepies with constant wet dripping noses. I keep a dry washcloth in the car to wipe it off my seats and console constantly. I know it's kinda yuck but necessary for them.
LOL, same thing happens to my mother. Fortunately she does't rub her nose all over the windows and upholstery. Something about motion she guessing.
