Puppy and a 7 month old baby-Nipping and jumping questions.

Hi!
First, sorry for my English I come from Europe(Slovenia)
My daughter is 7 months old now and we had a 12 years old OES,but unfortunatly he was very ill and we had to put him to sleep two months ago.It was very hard.Ofcourse we couldn't be without dog,so we have 11 weeks old puppy now.He is with us for two weeks now,and we will start a puppy scholl next week.
I am sure that some of you have experience with OES and small babys. Can you give me some advise, how to learn a dog not to jump on my daughter and not to knock her dawn, when she will start to walk. That is my main concern, since I read that a lot of people have problem with that.
What about a puppy bitting,he's not biteing me,but when I sit with my daughter close to him,he always starts to nip her,I tell him NO,but he doesn?t leasten,I think that he sees me as a leader, but he think that he's higher rank than her. What to do to let him know that she's very important.
Thank you and good night from Slovenia. Mojca

Make sure to bring this up in training.
Remember your pup is a baby and will nip.
When he starts nipping or biting tell him NO firmly and give him something he can have like a toy or a bone. Then praise him when he starts playing with the toy or eating the bone. You want to replace the bad behavior with good behavior showing him something that is ok to chew on.
As for jumping up. That will definitely be addressed in training.
But like I said earlier he is a baby and does not know right from wrong yet. My daughter is 16 months old and starting walking last month.
I have two sheepdogs and when they are playing they will occassionally knock her down. Not on purpose...but because they don't pay attention when they are playing and running around. My daughter has been around my dogs since birth and actually finds it funny when they knock her down.
Remember consistancy is the key to training.
Good Luck and please update us on your dogs progress
Welcome to the forum! I agree with what Pepsi's Mom said. Please keep us posted on the puppy's progress.
Welcome to the forum.. sorry to hear about your loss, that is difficult. Our best to you with the new pup- as everyone has said, the pup is a baby too and has to be taught. We are the family of Chipper, a 3 month old OES full of energy- we have experienced some of the same that you describe, but have been working with him and you have to be consistent! Good luck and hope Puppy School helps too !
