He even asks for seconds and thirds. I also make asparagas the same way. I melt about 3/4 of a stick of butter then poor it over steamed or cooked broccoli. Then I put in breadcrumbs and mix. The bread crumbs stick to the broccoli and even I LOVE it . I always liked Raw broccoli, but not cooked. This is a good way to get the kids to eat their veggies. It taste so good it doesn't even taste like broccoli. |

That is an excellent idea.. thanks for the tip.. the only veggie my son will eat IS broccoli!!! If I use your method maybe his father might eat it to? |
My kiddos love broccoli (I have weird kiddos that like fruits & veggies more than anything else), but I'll have to try your way to change it up a little. |
Sounds yummy! We too love veggies & fruit! My 4 year old actually asks for "steamed broccoli" when we go out to eat. (shocks the waiters everytime!) |
My niece and nephews are like that, too. My niece says "let's go get some desert" when were are in the grocery store and heads for the fruit section. They all order water or milk to drink when they go out to eat. Very cool. |
As a kid, I was very weird and asked for raw green peppers as a bed time snack. But now...give me cookies before bedtime any night |
I put Cheese Whiz on the broccoli to get my neice to eat it!!
Same with Green and Yellow beans |
Broccoli is the one veg both kids like, but they prefer raw.
Same with raw carrots...love them but refuse to eat cooked carrots. they will corn on the cob...but not kernal corn they will eat green beans, but not peas. Hate all peppers, and potatoes too unless it's french fries. I swear we have kids that belong to someone else, hubby and I LOVE all our veggies. I'm excited to try this, maybe for supper with beans. Then try the eggplant parmesan too. |
that is a great idea. my j HATES cooked/steamed broccoli. i will try it though. i have eaten and ENTIRE casserole of broccoli, cheese&rice before. oh my gosh.. it's one of my weaknesses. i'm so food driven. i remember the in-laws making it for me b/c mr. j said it was my favorite... and i ate the entire casserole in one sitting by myself! you'd think i'd be calling 1800jenny by now! |

Ohh...I love that stuff! |
Try peeling the broccoli for those who are still unsure about it. That removes some of the bitterness. Actually some people have certain taste receptors on their tongue and truly can't eat broccoli.......I think Prez Bush I was one.
Anyway, my two favorites: 1. broccoli stems, peeled, steamed lightly dressed with whatever; butter is always good. 2. broccoli casserole with that garlic cheese who's name escapes me right now......drat!! You need a carrier such as cream of mushroom soup to even things out. Boursin!!! That's it. |
Brocolli with terriyaki sauce is good! |
Brocoli and Rice Casseroles are INCREDIBLE TOO!!!
We eat a lot of verggies, the boys love Brocoli- I prepare steamed, Steamed w/ Bread Crumbs, grated cheese over the top.. When the boys were younger- they loved anything they could "dip"... so we have dip-dip (ranch dressing) with almost every meal. Raw Brocoli diced into a fresh pasta salad with Italian Dressing and grated parmesian is also delightful!! |
