Hi Nice To Meet ya's

Hi ,

I've been reading all your postings . You seem like a very nice bunch of people. My names Tam alias herbgirl. Our Sheepies name is Mardi he is one year old and hails from Louisianna. He flew here Delta Dash.I'm afraid of flying myself. I felt so sorry for him when he got off the airplane I don't think i'd ever have one flown again. He is our first sheepdog. He is actually my daughters. She's in her first year of college. But since I do most of the taking care of him I've become so attached I told her i'd buy her one when she gradguates i'm keeping this one. He would be lost without his partner in crim e our Australian Shepherd Skye.
As soon as I figure this out i'll post a picture.I'm glad to see other people adore their dogs as much as we do.
catch ya's later

Hi Tam,

Glad you could join us and welcome to the forum. I'm Marianne from Canada and mom to two boys and three four legged canines and four felines.

This forum is great for discussing concerns regarding medical or behavioral issues or just chit chat and brags about our dogs. OES's are easy to love and I can see why you are attached to your daughters. :O)

Bye for now
Marianne
Hi Tam,

Glad you've come to join us. I am currently Sheepieless in Saratoga, NY and am living vicariously through all the sheepies here and having a ball. I only just joined up in February after losing my Rosiegirl. Wish I had known about it before then. I feel like I'm visiting with old friends everyday.

I hear you about keeping Mardi and getting another for your daughter.

When I was growing up we always had mutts and they always lived outside because they actually preferred it themselves. Usually some form of a german shepherd mix. They were very much loved and did come into the house on occasion but never allowed on furniture or to lick leftovers off of plates.

But then the sheepie girls of mine came along. They never lived with my parents but visited a lot. With Odie, once we reached Gram & Gramps house she forgot I existed and became the spoiled brat that I use to lay claim to. My dad was always feeding her half of his sandwich. She was not allowed on the furniture there but at camp she was a well know bed-hopper. When Rosie came along forget it, she was Grams girl. All of a sudden gram was putting a left over on a plate on the floor and any furniture was not off limits. I usually fell asleep on the floor at nite there before heading to bed and my mom would come out and find her curled up in one of the chairs or on the sofa and of course she thought it was cute and then it became allowed. I guess we know who was the Alpha in my household. In her tribute pictures there is a shot of her on my Mom's lap. These Sheepies definitely have a way with us two-legged folks.

We'll enjoy hearing from you. Hop in whenever and wherever and when you get a chance you should update us on Mardi on the Sheepie Survey at the top of the Chit Chat Posts.
Welcome to the forum you are right , it sure is a friendly place as well as informative. I look forward to hearingyour imput and look forward to seeing lots of pics 8)
Hi Ragamuffin,
Are you planning on getting another Sheepdog.
Not that you can ever replace the one that you had but puppies
are always exciting to get. I love everyting about them even puppy breath. My friend is not a dog person. She thinks i'm weird because i think puppy breath smells good.
Hi maryann, Do you speak French? Just wandering.I know alot of Canadians are French. So you like to garden too. I have to garden outside the dogs fence from now on . They have a dirt racetrack worn around my pool . I put them in the tub and hose their feet off during this rainy weather. It's kind of a mystery how so much mud can get on four feet. I could rinse each paw for five minutes and it keeps coming off.

Hi Intradan, Still can't send pics I have to wait till my girls have time to show me how to do it.
Hi Tam

Oh yes, most definitely. The finances aren't there to be able to get a puppy as much as I would like to start out with one this time.

As I've said, Odie & Rosie were both 1 yr old when we joined forces and there is something to be said about having a dog come live with you already basically trained.

I do have my name around at the rescue sites, but I don't have a fenced yard, live in a small apartment, and never used a crate. Not to say that my girls ever minded any of that. Grannie Annie NEOESR is on the lookout for me. She's a wonderful person to speak with. She makes sure she matches the right dog up with the right person. She knows her puppies.

I did look at goldfish today to pass my time til then. Maybe next week after the holiday weekend. have a good one. catch you back here next week.
Hi Again Tam,

Although Canada is a bilingual country the only people that usually speak both languages (other than what you learn in highschool) is in the East. The province of Quebec is french speaking of course and you find a high number of french speaking people in the surrounding provinces. On the West Coast you rarely hear or find someone that speaks French unless they happen to be in a Government position.

Ironically, I was born in France and have lived in Canada since I was six - so no accent..:O) I don't even say eh!! Like the rest of the world thinks Canadians like to say..on the other hand a lot of them do..ha! Having grown up with French speaking parents I wanted to be like the other kids so always answered back in English. Now I can understand the language 100% but have the vocabulary of a 5 year old if I try to speak it.

Three years ago I fulfilled a lifelong dream and subletted an apartment in Paris for a short time, the Parisians found my speach endearing as they called it. Luckily I understood what they were saying to me.

Ragamuffin, You'd be such a wonderful Sheepie parent I hope you have your dreams come true soon. That's going to be one lucky boy or girl that gets to live in your home.
