Teeth

Our OES is just under 5 months old now, but it still looks like he doesn't have all his puppy teeth yet. He has almost a full compliment of molars but only a couple of front teeth. In the past my dogs have started to lose their puppy teeth around 6 months or so. I just can't imagine that he is going to get the rest of his teeth in in the coming weeks and then lose them soon after.

Should we have any concern or could it just be that he may just get his adult teeth?

Or maybe he is just slow teeth grower?

Could be! I have a 13 year old people pup who has yet to loose her last baby tooth. The dentists is forever taking x-rays and saying, maybe in another 6 months. She had her first tooth at 3 months, so it is not like she was a late starter.
I think you will have to wait and see. Somewhere I have heard of that happenning ... no baby teeth, then, like overnight, permanent teeth.
Check back and let us know what happens. It can become the saga of the missing teeth!
And someone else will probably have the same phenomona (we need a spell checker! That doesn't look right.) or situation. It helps to go to a forum and see others with the same problems. Maybe someone else here can give you a better answer? :?:  :?:
my younger brother (24) has until this day one baby tooth (milk-tooth) still there....never dropped :)
Perhaps your pup had baby teeth that you hadn't noticed and they have fallen out? Maybe you've just noticed because the adult teeth haven't come in yet? Dancer is 16 weeks old tomorrow, and she is starting to lose her baby teeth, with no adult ones replacing it just yet.
This weekend he started to lose his teeth. A mollar here, a bottom tooth over there. He probably sensed me talking about his teeth.

I have kept an eye on his teeth since his first vet visit (with me) at 12 weeks). Vet noticed his teeth were slow coming in. I just suspect he may be skipping the puppy teeth. I guess we'll see in the coming months when all his adult teeth start coming in.
Since we're on the subject, may I ask something?

Maddy and I are also dealing with the perils of puppy teeth. Recently she started having trouble eating and we noticed that she had very few teeth in the back. The teeth she did have in the back were very small, so I though that they were her adult teeth just starting to come in. However, on Sunday she lost 3 MORE molars with another about to fall out. Now she has NOTHING BUT GUMS! It's actually kind of funny!

My question is, do the baby molars look tiny in her mouth or did she actually lose adult teeth that hadn't come in all the way? This seems like a tough one to answer, considering you can't see into her mouth over the internet!

Any idea as to how long it should take for the adult ones to come in? If the babies fell out, it was because the adult teeth pushed them out, right? So I'm guessing that it shouldn't be long until they start peeking through?

Thanks,
Jen and Maddy
My sheepie baby girl is about the same age as yours, she has lost a few of her front teeth and they have already been replaced with adult teeth, but it was one at a time, sometimes 2, over the course of the last couple months she has lost and replaced only 5 or 6 baby teeth, and no molars.
Perhaps because of the diarreah her nutrition level is low and it may cause them to fall out faster, before the adult ones are ready to come in? Just a thought, I don't know much about puppy teeth other than what I've experienced over the years. My youngest son (two legged) is in the teeth falling out stage, and the tooth fairy is getting expensive these days!

This link is to a very informational page regarding canine teeth. When I come across something I don't know the answer for I tend to go find it...lol.... Anyway, it really is a great article.
